This. A money supply that is not controlled by the system is a direct threat to the system (and the ruling class behind it), so crypto has to be gutted sooner or later. Authoritarian systems which rely on suppression of speech and economic freedoms to maintain their power, like Russia and China, just had to act quicker than the open, capitalist democracies of the West. This doesn't mean that a crackdown on crypto won't be coming here too; it's inevitable in the long run.

The United States will phase out cash by utilizing a central bank crypto coin (i.e. Fedcoin). Economists have been discussing how best to eliminate physical cash for years. Good or bad, it's coming, and soon.

Unironically something I like about crypto is it's gotten the public in general to think about what a currency actually is on a deeper level than "It's what I pay my bills with".
