Newsom's Civics Lesson

Gavin Newsom ended 2021 with a flourish. As the Sacramento Bee reports in an article headlined Newsom vs. Kiley:

Newsom took a rare jab at one of his loudest critics last week, when his office put out a statement suggesting Assemblyman Kevin Kiley might need “a basic refresher course on how the legislature and a separate branch of government works.”

Yes, the Governor who literally proclaimed himself an autocrat tried to lecture me about the separation of powers. His goal, following a backlash, was to distance himself from my removal as Education Vice Chair.

Today that “separate branch of government,” the Legislature, reconvened for a new session. To start the year I’m renewing my legislation to ban vaccine passports throughout California, given that the rationale for them has collapsed entirely.

But the arrival of legislators wasn’t the most significant event at the Capitol today. The true civics lesson was provided to Newsom by parents who gathered to protest his outrageous student mandate. You can see my remarks at the rally here.

We begin 2022 with the nation’s only K-12 mandate and the highest measure of insanity across the board. Yet we also begin the year with a movement that is stronger than ever, that's poised to take on the failed leadership of both Sacramento and Washington.

Here We Go Again

Sonoma County has banned gatherings over 50 people and told residents to “shelter in place.” This is the prelude to a statewide lockdown. We can’t let it happen.

If the goal is to “stop the spread,” Los Angeles is instructive. That county has by far the most cases per capita in California. The "scientific" regimen of vaccine passports and outdoor masking has somehow failed.

To make things more surreal, the state is now having healthcare staff work while COVID-positive. This comes after thousands of staff were fired even if COVID-recovered.

If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, then the recipe for restoring sanity is simple: end all mandates. Pass ACR 46, my resolution to terminate the emergency.

Meanwhile at the Capitol, Newsom just unveiled the largest budget in history. He spent three hours at the podium reveling in all $268 billion. I’ve never seen someone so gleeful about lighting cash on fire.

This Is Not a Drill

On Monday, the Assembly will vote on the Single Payer bill. AB 1400 abolishes private insurance and has the government take over healthcare. It would double state taxes.

Apparently, this is not a drill. Democrat leaders are vowing to “make sure members who vote ‘no’ on the legislation will not be endorsed by the California Democratic Party for the upcoming election.”

The craziest thing is this might not be the worst bill in the Legislature. That distinction goes to SB 871, which mandates the vaccine for kindergarten and up, or SB 866, which removes parent consent. Even the LA Times opposes this outrageous legislation.

It’s no wonder we've reached a dubious milestone in the California Exodus. In a new report, U-Haul reveals it literally ran out of trucks to accommodate people fleeing the state. The meme calling Newsom their "Salesman of the Year" is certainly on target.

On a related note, new jobs numbers are in. You’ll never guess which state has the highest unemployment this month. Hint: it’s the same as the last 3 months.

The big news out of Congress is that Nancy Pelosi is running for reelection. This raises the stakes in our race, as winning this seat could be the key to ending Pelosi’s Speakership. It’s all the more reason we need Republicans in Congress who will fight.

I don’t understand why Democrats don’t just fully reopen the economy and simply pass a law that blocks Republicans from receiving medical treatment if they have COVID. This is the only sensible solution. Let people be free. Freedom also means freedom to die alone without treatment. If conservatives prefer that, give them the freedom and liberty to make that choice.

I’ve always thought the best way to deal with it is to let dumbassess kill themselves and to throw the ones who kill others by spreading the disease into forced labor concentration camps and let them work off the the full potential labor value of every human life they’ve ended. It’s the only way to ensure we don’t lose anything from the economy. Let everyone else be free.
