What a moronic comparison. There's risk in most things we do that differ from activity to activity.

1) Activities differ and thus risk level does.

2) Just because something has a higher risk level does not make it the baseline.

3) As a collective through federal and state policies we actively try to mitigate risk. The risk of driver failure or other while operating a vehicle is constantly evolving as mitigation measures are implemented and made policy. There's a massive industry out there right now automating driving to remove human failure. Laws have changed drastically through the years to mitigate risk and continue to change. Speed limits, cell phone usage, vehicle build regulations, inspection laws, etc.

No action on covid would have resulted in 3-6 million deaths. Even now after shutdowns and mask wearing Covid already has many tens of times more deatha than car accidents this year.

Deaths is an incomplete metric. Life-years is more valuable.

When you prevent a 5 year old from going to school, it is worse than having an 80 year old die 6 years early.

Fun fact: The vaccine doesn't prevent you from spreading the virus. It only reduces symptoms and death rate.

Another reason why I won't get the vaccine.
