So my wide lens angle of all this is that Trump really pushed the envelope and set precedents on the behavior of the president, or at least, reverted it to the more pugilistic style of the 19th century where honestly I don't think Trump's mannerisms would have been out of place at all. But its the Democrats who have set new precedents and pushed the envelope in their actions. Not mere behavior, because we could hold them over the fire all day for buying into conspiracy theories about russiaburger, loose rhetoric of treason, open embrace of their rioters, etc. What I find more impactful in the long run is the actions, the power-grabs. What democrats are doing with the Jan 6th committee, as well as everything else around Trump, has been very unprecedented. Throwing around congressional contempt votes wildly, impeaching the president twice on completely inapplicable and contrived grounds with no actual political supermajority to act upon it, pursuing a president after he's out of office, seeking his tax returns, filing frivolous lawsuits, stripping congressmen and women of their committee assignments over trivialities (literally an anime meme video in the latest case, the most high profile action of unadulterated humorless butthurt to be expressed in hundreds of years of that hallowed chamber), and not to mention the extreme totalitarian and authoritarian covid-19 measures and mandates- including direct violations of the president's campaign promises. And locking up political protesters of the opposing party en masse with selectively enforced, draconian applied political persecution, an entire wing of Trump supporters at a prison like something you'd expect in Putin's russia circa 2014.
I've had my gripes with the actions of Republicans, like the endless Benghaziburgers and Email inquisitions, but that's child's play compared to the bridges being burned here.
And Republicans are openly stating that they will retaliate in kind when they take power and measuring up which committee seats they will strip in tit-for-tat measures, and they will get the senate in one year so once-a-fucking-gain this is the completely predictable and clearly warned against example of Democrats taking a power grab that will bite them in the ass a short time later. I can still hear the echoes of McConnell warning Harry Reid what would happen if he went nuclear.

Play devil's advocate with me. Say your true goal is what icemage always pretended his was, the high minded sanctity of our government institutions and public trust in them, the united american faith in our authorities, a communal sense of shared civility and everyone holding hands and singing kumbaya like a bunch of gay boys circlejerking it. Is that interest actually served by these witch hunts? Are the inquisitors who seeking to purge heretics by pain and fire actually serving the name of god? I was very quick to point out how much I appreciated how the moment he was elected, Trump betrayed his rabid base and immediately declared Hillary Clinton off the hook for any transgressions. The pre-emptive Ford pardon in effect if not formality. Because its so much better for the temperature of our society when politicians lay down their hatchets and don't stake their political fortunes on fanning the flames of hatred. And don't get me wrong, Trump hitched his horse to that hate-wagon against Hillary and rode it to the White House, but at least he had the decency to let it ride off into the sunset once it had served its purpose. Democrats have no such decency. Democrats have no decency at all.

woah now. Making actual sense and being rational, reasonable and logical is not what we're looking for anymore in today's modern American society.

We don't need reason, we just need a combination of hysterical lies, propaganda, identity politics, and insanity!

We can't have sane people anymore!! If you act rational it means you're one of Putin's personal puppets!!

I said citing a random USA today article doesn't count as mainstream media coverage if its just a random article linked at the bottom of like tab 3.

I'm just providing facts. An intelligent person would be able to parse that pretty quick without it being explicitly explained.

If you really wanted to further divide Americans and tear apart the country's civil fabric I can't imagine anyone dreaming up a more effective way than what democrats are doing right now. Wielding their discretionary powers to pursue the opposition, locking up people who protest them, mandating lockdowns, angling to change the rules and go nuclear over every little quibble. We've heard a lot about Biden's dismal poll numbers, but has anyone paid attention to Trump's post-presidency favorability ratings? Even if you take the pollsters that showed him losing to Clinton by a landslide in a 99.999% guaranteed victory, you can still see that Trump's favorability is at neck and neck with Biden's job approval, or even passing him. Drawing upon that polling bias I'd say its clearly higher, at least weighted for electoral college votes. But the point being, people who supported Trump aren't abandoning him even after his loss, and Joe Biden is being abandoned after his win (to the tune of 20-30 point swings), and yet while Trump's whole existence is sitting in Mar-a-Lago twiddling his thumbs for the next 3 years and posing for pictures with Kyle Rittenhouse, Democrats continue to make their foremost issue be "how much we hate Donald Trump and want to crucify him". Which drives that wedge right inbetween one half of America and the other and twists it as hard as they can.

It depends on the argument being made. If you're saying a random article off USA today is evidence of nation wide press coverage, its not. The article you linked is still true and accurate, but it isn't supporting evidence for the claim being made. Random internet links are not the same as "National press coverage".

Here lemme try to put it in words you understand. Newspaper front page, many read, many person see. Link at bottom of internet, no click, no see.
