I am changing my view as follows:

previously I had said that Ukraine could not beat Russia. I am changing this view.

From a conventional standpoint it is looking more and more likely that Ukraine CAN beat Russia via conventional force of arms. I think, now:

1. That the Russian army is inept, unskilled, unmotivated, ill equipped and poorly run with no ability to rapidly resupply/repair or bring new tools to the table. (is it too harsh to say they are not experienced in modern warfare?)
2. That the Ukrainian army is well trained, skilled, motivated and getting more and more equipped (with years of advisors experience to boot) and with key victories (such as the news of the sinking of that Russian flagship as well as the fact that Kyiv was not taken) they can actually win.

whats your view on this ? also, whats your view on Ukraine attacking Russian soil? my position is this would be a tactical blunder noting it might scare putin into doing something...unconventional.

I always have that view. ^_^
When your government is corrupted as it is and all the funds going into your friends and your pocket and the livelihood of your citizens are not up to standard, I wonder how is it possible to maintain an army with high morale to fight for you.

As Lee Kuan Yew said in one of the videos I showed you before. When the top is corrupted, everyone at the bottom will follow your lead and that will ruin the country and her entirety.
Which is also true that with or without democracy Russia won't fly.

For sure, democracy is probably useless, especially when i don't have it.

Just because your democracy works in your country doesn't mean it works in others.
Some culture are suited for it, some culture are their people or not.

For sure some are pretty much stuck, but when you see this map the evolution is inexorable. Damnit this democracy is oppressing me!
Btw best civilization level is when citizen are so hightly educated that you could pick up anyone to be in charge and competent.
Happened in ancien greece. Next step is no leader at all, but i would concede it to libertarian Sci-Fi.

The only thing i'm afraid of is when education, information, become too specialized and restricted so authoritarian regimes can start to "breed" their own citizen like animals on several generations, totally controling them, to ensure their ruling.

But isn't that what the West and Democratic countries are doing now.

Democracy used to work. But barely anymore.

To deserve Democracy and freedom of speech.
The leaders you elect have to be somewhat responsible to the common people.
The government have to act as a " Trustee " of her people.
Freedom of speech and democracy is great, but it needs to be responsible and viable in our more than ever interdependent world.

Democracy and Freedom of speech is being abused.
It was already being abused 30 to 40 years back, with the introduction of the internet , social media etc it is being exploited even further by the elected government to manage her people.

Democracies are under attack for sure, inequalities, nepotism, and neo-populism are terrible threats. This is hot life, we are alive.

But you cannot change it however you want to.
Democracy as you see have reached it's pinnacle to become a dogmatic controlling ideology.
The ruling government divides you in a way via that is unparalleled in history.

And every single time you experience upheavals, inequalities, nepotism etc etc in your democratic country, the ruling government will divert your attention to somewhere else where they use moral obligations as an excuse whereby your attention gets distracted from what is actually happening on your own turf.
Public funds are being extracted to fight wars that you are not supposed to be involved in etc etc instead of solving your most basic needs and infrastructure problem.

But most are fine with it, because the indulgence and the passion of your ideologue surpasses most basic necessity that your country faces.
The people who suffered most are the ones who are struggling to make ends meet getting paycheck by paycheck not knowing what will happen next.
