Ukrainians are defending well fortified positions, so the odds that their casualties are higher than the attacking Russians are poor - especially considering the poor state of Russian supply and morale.



It's not just Kyiv though. The areas around Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mykolaiv are showing Russian losses.

but we are in agreement that russia, broadly, does not care for kyiv, and that from kyiv they withdrew (not retreated) but that in the east if they withdraw, its a retreat, not a withdrawal. right ?



losses is the wrong word though right ? what exactly is happening there? i.e. there, russia is retreating or ?

Dawg you’d have hundreds if not thousands of dead Russian bodies if they were beaten back around Kiev and Sumy that would be spammed all over primary sources like telegram and Twitter, they weren’t, they pulled their troops out in an orderly manner.

It’s the equivalent of bragging that you beat your bully after school when he got on the school bus and went home. Lol. So much hopium.

Tell me about glorious withdrawal

Alive people > glory. I’m happy Russians went home in the north, I’ll also be happy when thousands of Ukrainian troops fall back from Donbas instead of dying under artillery barrage.

Ukraine is just too big, and Russia does not gain territories despite abandoning north offensive. Seems hard to imagine they will be able to split the country in two.

Donbass is a part of Ukraine.

The only "agreement" right now is that Russia SAYS they don't care about Kyiv, because they couldn't make any headway in capturing the capital. I take their statement with a grain of salt. They cared enough to send tens of thousands of soldiers in an attempt to make a quick end to the war and were soundly rebuffed. Now they're pretending like their withdrawal was part of their master plan.

The Russians are losing control of some of the territory they had previously conquered.



The areas around Kyiv (not Kiev) were a strategic withdrawal. The areas around Kharkiv and Izium are tactical losses. Try to keep up, kid.



...and Ukraine is making headway in taking it back.
