so what you're telling me is that providing healthcare and needles, ADDRESSING (not 'masking' you idiot, no one says countries with liberal drug policies have no addicted people, that's you strawmanning, i'm saying their solutions are superior) the problem is somehow worse than having ALL the downsides: significant drug related crime, a massive prison population of non-violent offenders (a main reason behind the fatherless homes that right wingers pretend to care about so much when they act like that's just part of 'black culture'), and the unaddressed health and addiction problems on top of it?

to be fair, i should have remembered who i'm talking to and given you the crayon version: those countries still aren't perfect, they still have drug related crime and social issues, and their overall superior approach has some intrinsic downsides - but looking at the big picture, only a madman would come to the conclusion that the war on drugs, the criminalisation of addiction and even recreational use, is the way to go.

Fascinating you manage to come to that conclusion while viewing the effects of your shitty liberal policies ^^

What would help is to be strict on the youngsters because that's where it all starts you idiot. It's funny that the political correct EU finds smoking a big deal and actively tries to create a smoke free society and when dealing with drugs like heroin wants to decriminalize it's use and provides free needles ffs

lol what? heroin is still a controlled substance and illegal to make, possess, or sell, lol. decriminalising the use of small amounts is not the same as legalising everything in relation to it. do you even know the first bit about any of what you're talking about, lol? what is your point here, you idiot? the difference is the approach to dealing with those addicted to it.

the 'free needles' you're so obsessed with are not initiatives to incentivise controlled substance abuse (and they demonstrably don't), they are proven methods to prevent the spread of deadly diseases. it's like this is the first time you ever even thought or read about this issue, lol.

directly related, and addressing your previous "unique opioid problem" excuse: https://www.apa.org/monitor/2018/10/portugal-opioid

in conclusion: there is absolutely no contradiction in disincentivising young people from smoking (which is undeniably an enormous health risk and financial drain on our healthcare system) and drinking, and decriminalising drug use.
your very 70s / 80s understanding of drugs, probably heavily influenced by the deliberately racist (before you clutch your pearls, just google john ehrlichmann, crack vs. powdered cocaine sentencing) rhetoric and approaches by the likes of nixon and reagan (happily continued by bush and clinton btw), has been proven wrong and detrimental in basically every aspect: health, crime, social, financial... you name it. mindblowing how ignorant you are.

the best possible scenario here is that you're just trying to save face, that you're just not able to admit you were wrong about all of it. if you genuinely don't understand this, however, you might be even dumber than i already assumed, and that'd be quite the feat, lol...

Yeah yeah give them free needles really shows how illegal it is rofl and your blatantly ignoring stuff I already linked like torture chambers in Netherlands, lawyer taken out by drugs gang etc is telling the tale here. You got no fucking reply at all so you ignore it LOL

In Amsterdam, there’s been a steady rise in underworld violence over the last eight years. In 2014, crime lord Gwenette Martha was mowed down in a hail of more than 80 bullets outside a kebab shop; a severed head was left outside a café in 2016; an anti-tank rocket was fired into the offices of a major newspaper in 2018; and, in December of 2019, Derk Wiersum – the lawyer for a state witness in a major mob trial – was shot dead in front of his wife outside their home.

Insiders say the torture chambers found during the EncroChat busts supposedly belonged to an alliance of local criminals working against the Netherlands’ formerly most wanted man, Ridouan Taghi – a Dutch-Moroccan alleged mob boss arrested in 2019 on suspicion of murder and drug trafficking.

Smoked weed everyday for 15 years. Drug laws are just another nefarious way governments try to control the people.

If we legalize all drugs, won't that solve a lot of the problems? I mean sure, put some age limitations in, but if a person can just go down to the drug store, get their fix, go home and relax with their high, what's the issue?

Let's face it, if it weren't for the strict controls on drugs, a lot of "crime" wouldn't happen in the first place, as it wouldn't be considered "crime". And much of the official stance against drug usage prevents companies from making safer alternatives to things like crystal meth or fentanyl that'll provide much of the high without so much of the incredible risk.

Likewise, if the drugs are legalized recreationally, companies are incentivized to compete driving prices way down, and allows a sales tax to be implemented as well, driving revenue that can be used to help in addiction recovery programs.

If Floyd hadn't gunned down his drugs to avoid a possession charge and reincarceration, would he have overdosed and gone into Excited Delirium? Would he have resisted when put into the cruiser, shouting that he couldn't breathe, he was choking, and demanded to be put on the ground instead?

Prohibition doesn't work. It just takes something that's more of a self-harm and turns it into a criminal act, which ups the price, which ups the level of associated violent crime to be paired with it. Like tell me, how many gangs are willing to commit mass murder these days over the ability to go buy a fifth of your favorite liquid? That's right, none. Are there problems associated with alcohol? Absolutely. But are they anywhere near as bad as those associated with it's prohibition? Not a chance, in the US.

cops could focus on trafficking as well and stop wasting a much larger time on small time possession and use.

Doing nothing and letting the problem completely spiral out of control is even better policy bravo sir!

legalizing all drugs =/= doing nothing.

its allocating resources to treatment and enforcing the big dogs instead of spending money to arrest the lil pups. you're clearly ignorant on this issue.

i am 'ignoring' stuff that is irrelevant and uncontroversial. no one claimed portugal and the netherlands were perfect. no one claimed they don't still have their own drug related issues. they do. what i'm saying is that their overall approach is superior in basically every single aspect: crime, health, financial, social...

your war on drugs approach failed miserably, you're just too dumb to realise that, lol.

I could def get behind this.

The only true solution is to kill the fentanyl dealers in China..

or do what Philippines or Singapore does.

This problem only exists in the first place though because Democrats destroyed the black family with welfare, divorce, and abortion.

ahhh yes degenerate users came into existence in the 1980s when democrat controlled cities bucked against the Reagan agenda...

i know you like ur simple democrat-to-blame causes, but from the lotus flower to opium dens rampant drug use has always been an issue. even alcohol has been a plague on GOP voting whites as a constant.

those factors sure didnt help, but poorness and drug use go hand in hand. and welfare, divorce, and abortion magically going away wouldnt give us an economically thriving black population.

Reagan did the divorce thing, and the supreme court did abortion, but the ideological underpinnings were all Marxist.

I guarantee you - if you got rid of abortion and welfare, the black community would be back to 1970's levels of family strength within ten years.
