Washington, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Adam B. Schiff, Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah E. The delay in seeing the report sparked Democratic complaints that Barr, a Trump appointee, wanted to shape the public’s views during his news conference before others had a chance to draw their own conclusions.

Early on Thursday, top congressional Democrats called on Mueller to testify publicly in Congress about his investigation, criticizing Barr’s rollout of the report.

“We believe the only way to begin restoring public trust in the handling of the Special Counsel’s investigation is for Special Counsel Mueller himself to provide public testimony in the House and Senate as soon as possible,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement.

Disappointing that Barr isn't going to have any members of Mueller's team there. This is a moment where he could demonstrate he is an institutionalist.... but he's showing himself to be more of a political actor.

Sounds like you're looking for excuses to doubt Barr. He has toed exactly to the professional line so far and done everything by the book, even moreso than Robert Mueller who has had a few leaks, a few awkward court moments and that aberration where he went public to contradict Buzzfeed. Barr has the benefit of only a short time in his post with a lot less media frenzy around him, so that doesn't speak to him being personally more or less professional. But before you go accusing him of being political for "not having Mueller's team there", ask yourself whether that would actually be appropriate and professional under DoJ precedent and regulations. Its quite probable that having the special counsel's team conducting a press conference would explicitly violate the post-Starr rules.
