I still don't get why governments aren't offering antivaxxers a legal waiver in which they forgo ICU treatment for covid in return for being unbothered by these mandates.
Let the antivaxxers put their money where their mouth is, so to speak.
This approach would solve all our problems:
- hospitals would no longer be overwhelmed as long as the government doesn't fuck up the boosters
- nobody would be forced to get vaccinated against their will
- the vaccinated would no longer have to suffer from restrictions which are necessary to protect those who don't want to protect themselves
- the undignified pressure campaign and blame game against the unvaccinated could end. conversely, if shit hits the fan again anyway, no one can blame the unvaccinated; in that case, politics and the vaccine manufacturers would have to own the failure. from the pov of someone who doesn't believe in the effectiveness of the vaccines, this approach would expose the other side. win-win.
because its immoral bullshit, there is no reason whatsoever for a normal person to give away their right to receive treatment
we both know that german hospitals have never been overwhelmed with 0% people vaxxed, they wont be overwhelmed with 75+% vaxxed, the shortage we have is a political failure unrelated to covid
this pandemic is so bad that we closed hospitals
and i have never seen one unvaxxed person wanting protection from anyone, there is no need, mandate or necessity to "protect those who dont want to protect themselves", thats a lauterbach style argument
we are seeing countries with over 90% vax rate like ireland closing down again or gibraltar with literally 100% so the narrative has been exposed already
lets be real, the only reason countries like germany are discussing new measures is that they cant let this wave wind down by itself without a lockdown hammer
otherwise all their terrible decisions from the past would be exposed once and for all
