In terms of the recent video re: nuclear attack off the west coast of Ireland, as I understand it there are several video's of this nature being shown, in russia. this to my mind is for russians, i.e. the russian government may be desensitising the concept of a nuclear attack to the russian people. its one thing to say things like this at the political level or for it to be used as a threat in other countries, its another thing to be showing it to your own people.

welcome (mature!) comments relating to this, cheers (remember now its not the location of such an attack, i.e. ireland and england but rather that an attack like this is being theorised and potentially normalised to russian citizens).

some other news, note that this is all from the russian TASS site so bear in mind it has the russian slant ~

1. Russian President tells his French counterpart that the EU countries ignore war crimes committed by the Ukrainian forces

---

well yes ok, we know this.

2. MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on using new special retaliatory economic measures over unfriendly actions by some foreign states and international organizations. In particular, the document published on the official portal of legal information prohibits fulfilling obligations and concluding deals with foreign individuals and legal entities under the retaliatory restrictive measures as well as exporting raw materials and products from Russia in the interests of these individuals. According to the decree, these measures are taken in order to protect Russia’s national interests "due to unfriendly actions which contradict international law by the United States of America and foreign states and international organizations that joined them directed at illegitimately depriving the Russian Federation, the citizens of the Russian Federation and Russian legal entities of [their] property right and restricting their property right."

The Russian government was instructed to approve a list of individuals sanctioned by Russia in ten days and determine additional criteria for deals and obligations to be categorized as banned in compliance with this decree. The Finance Ministry and Russia’s Central Bank will have the right to give official clarifications on the application of this decree with the exception of the norms on financial operations which benefit the individuals under the Russian sanctions.

---
and yes we know this too

3. Macron, Putin held two-hour phone conversation - TV channel

I like dialogue ok. more dialogue please.

Oh great, we can add "ending decades of healing the east-west schism" to our casualties
Pope Francis taking shots at Patriarch Kirill in public now. Just a couple weeks ago Francis cancelled their upcoming summit in Jerusalem which would have been the next baby step in ending the millennia of division, after their first meeting in 2016. But even last month Francis was still trying to downplay their differences and insist relations were still good and unchanged between them, explaining it away as "our diplomacy felt that a meeting at this time could lead to a lot of confusion". And now Francis is just being overtly antagonistic, saying "A Patriarch can't lower himself to become Putin's altar boy."

Don't look to church leaders on either side to be forces for peace in this world. Maybe I'll see if Amazon can ship the pope a "what would jesus do" bracelet

Jesus would condemn the Russian Orthodox church like he did the Pharisees. This is obvious.

Pope Francis is a sjw cuck who constantly caves to the woke mob - but he is not a sycophant of NATO or Western military. Kirill, not Francis, is the one at fault here, he is the religious leader who sucked up to those in power and allowed his church to be corrupted by politics/imperialist ambitions. The pope is absolutely right to call Kirill out on the pathetic way he has lowered himself to become Putin's lapdog.

yes because there is always a true religious justification for killing mass amounts of people.
Too bad Francis just can't see the light. I'm sure he can however bless the American only bombs.
fuck the church at all times.

Kirill and Francis aren't really comparable to begin with. Kirill has always been a state asset, that has never been in doubt and didn't just start with Ukraine. He's not a pope, he doesn't wield a divine mandate in his church, his views aren't dogma. For francis to start antagonizing the eastern orthodox church and criticizing them publicly, let alone with insults, is an unwarranted regression of the thawing of the ancient east-west schism. Its like the pope is embracing cancel culture and deciding that if you disagree with someone politically, you can't sit down at a table with them and heal the old wounds of the world in the name of global peace and harmony. So for all Francis's preaching about humbling himself and washing the feet of refugees and loving thy enemy and turning the other cheek, here he is refusing to break bread with the eastern church and spitting on their primarch. For fuck's sake Francis, atheists shouldn't make better christians than the pope.
