great job ignoring EVERY SINGLE relevant point (obama swiftly and unmistakenly calling out the attacker and finding strong words to condemn the actions; the difference between a group fighting AGAINST police brutality and racial inequality opposed to groups fighting FOR white supremacy...).

your simplistic propaganda, deflecting from trump's failure by desperately trying to fabricate a similar situation under obama, is as obvious as it's pathetic. i realise that alt right bigots love to ignore the actual issues when it comes to police brutality, especially against black ppl, and rather focus on painting blm activists as "terrorists" (they sure loved trump's calls for even "stronger" and more violent policing, the dog whistles are almost deafening) - but that doesn't make the problems and the tensions they lead to disappear.
it actually makes the whole situation worse, and only a fool or someone who doesn't WANT to see it could ignore that your current president clearly picked a side...

conservatives are the same as national socialists

The media talks about how the Republican party has moved further right in the past couple decades but it's pretty clear Democratic voters have moved further left as well. When you label Obama as evil or group conservatives together with Nazis, it's just impossible to have a rational conversation.

In 2020 I don't think moderates will have a candidate to vote for. I'm voting for Aleppo Johnson.

The republican party was moved forcefully hard to the left by Trump, whatever came in the 16 years before with Bush and the Tea Party.
It went from the grips of evangelicals, into pseudolibertarians, into... space formerly occupied by democrats?
The whole country moved left, the far left thinks those to the right of them didn't move far enough.

How so? The only real difference between Trump and standard Republican ideas is more trade protectionism, less focus on being a leader on the international stage, more hesitation to get involved in conflicts overseas, and tougher immigration policy. That's a more populist, Pat Buchanan-esque message.

Also Trump has pandered to evangelicals both in rhetoric and policy.

I think the country as a whole has moved left but the Republican party certainly hasn't. Reagan and Bush 1 couldn't win a primary in today's Republican party.

Its not just Trump vaguely channeling the Kingfish like Sanders on trade and globalism and foreign policy, its the social moderate pandering to evangelicals is far left of an evangelical moderating his tone. The republicans considered him a RINO for being too far left, and heck, he's been aligned with the democrats and reform party before the right wing. Populism, embracing workers, supporting gay marriage- and no matter how much he postures he's been pro-life his whole life and the evengelicals knew it- these are further left than the positions of a fairly moderate right candidate of the past decades like Bush, let alone one of the classical rightwingers like Rick Perry. Or even Mike Pence for that matter

It followed Reagan that the evangelicals pulled the country- both parties- right. Lets remember that the entire third way democratic movement like Clinton was a rightwing lunge to fill the moderate gap, and now the pendulum is just swinging back

well sucks for all the white millenials, according to wapo youre a racist just like your grandparents - even if they immigrated here in the 1960s or something and settled in Maine or Minnesota or California, etc.

wapo changed the headline a couple hours ago, guess it didnt go over well in their peanut gallery comment section. Sentiment of the article remains.
