Morals are about how the world should work. Not about how the world actually plays out.

Might doesn't make right. But it does make things how they are. Our views are not in contention here.

I'm happy to see all your insult and flame posts have already been reported by someone else. Try to conduct yourself without name calling if you're trying to give off the impression that you're worth talking to.

You absolutely do believe might makes right. Might can be anything. Political power, for example. You believe the 51 percent should absolutely dominate the 49 percent. If the point of contention is what the definition of the phrase "might makes right" is, and I wouldn't put it past you to be that excruciatingly pedantic, then fine. The way I'm using it is to describe someone who believes that if you can get away with something, or have the power to force others to do something, that one should wield that power. You absolutely believe that. If you deny this, you'll have to take back hundreds of opinions you've stated in the past.

I distinctly remember having a similar conversation with you on this subject a few months back, where you replied to me, almost verbatim, that "politics is just war by other means." And then someone else responded to you that that doesn't make it right, and you defended the position that it does.

this position is also well written.

i am also not a fan of 51% vs 49%. thats too fine a margin, and, taking US politic's as an example of this narrow difference - This narrow difference has proven to be the soruce of division in american politics, especially when noting certain individuals champion their party and set party against party. Republicans and Democrats should not be vs each other, they should be serving the american people. Now I get that this is an alien concept for some and that the concept could be seen as a form of communism but this is how it works in other countries (to varying degrees). The US political divide has become glaring, particularly in the last 10-20 years - This has crippled America in fundamental ways (in my opinion).

Ferdia, in my opinion the only way for America to be who they are and show that they still exudes and stay true to their ideals that they enshrine into their declaration of independence and still be a reasonable dominant power
is to

Stop doing what they are doing to themselves

Russia labels blasts in Transnistria as “acts of terrorism,” promises to investigate.
Pretty sure we can gather that Russia will either blame Ukraine and conduct another “liberating” mission, or blame Moldova and conduct another “liberating” mission.

I believe you think that's what I said, because you aren't very good at reading comprehension.

More insults?

You literally said the words "Politics is just war by other means"

I think I read that correctly. Just admit it and stop this constant and flimsy personal grudge and posturing.

Eighteen companies, which are also the largest employers in the Kaliningrad Oblast, notified the regional authorities about the risk of collective redundancies. Following the introduction of sanctions against Russia, they lack the components and raw materials needed to maintain work continuity. - Kaliningrad is a besieged fortress that could be the first to collapse under sanctions in Russia.

A Russian journalist describes that when he visited a local office, he found out that around 1,000 unemployed people had arrived in a month. This phenomenon was irrelevant before the war with Ukraine. Unemployment did not exceed 5 percent.

"Most of the companies are counting on the government to provide subsidies to keep employment temporarily," reads the Kaliningrad.ru publication.

My opiniom: let them count on government, and when we also decrease Ru government income from oil/gas/coal, Russia will have to make a tough choice to keep on either social spending or war spending.
