Can you explain what you mean by this? what could the Ukrainians do differently or what other options do they have? in your opinion obviously.

I'm not convinced that tensions can increase further without the use of WMDs.

No one is forcing Ukraine to fight Russia though. They can capitulate at any time...just ask the Afghan army.

I see a difference between Afghanistan and Ukraine in that Afghanistan was never a historical core of the Russian sphere for centuries and the primary resistance was fueled by fundamentalist Islam, where the Ukrainian distinction doesn't really exist, other than a political opposition to the way Putin governs. It's still a valid defense but a flimsy one by comparison imo.
