Well that's kind of what their governments are saying atm but the longer this goes on the less likely people are to accept it. Being a hawk is actually at odds with national/domestic economic wellbeing in Europe atm at least in short-medium term. I think Russia is eyeing to exploit this as a natural outcome of the war. Certain European politicians are soft towards Russia (Hungary, Austria, Germany somewhat, Netherlands) while the hard liners are going to be forced to be softer as they see more protests and riots of people who are struggling. It's the economics that will crack Europe's resolve against Russia. I may be wrong but I feel like the economic induced protests/riots we've seen in places like Spain/France are going to become even more widespread, especially if gas is cut in a real way, meaning from Germany, not these minor symbolic cuts in Poland/Bulgaria.

Look, i'm not american, my governement opposed to iraq war 2. Now let's face the truth: did american governement put 15 years prison sentence to people who asked to stop the war ?
Did the american soldiers looted, raped, and shot civilians in the street with a bullet in the head ? US army did some some abuse of its positions sometimes, it was documented by Assange.
But stretching on iraq with ukraine each time is simply dishonest. Pure and simple "but both sides" ....

That's probably why the West is giving heavier and heavier weapons to Ukraine too. The more Russian blood spilled, the better, because that means that the war will end earlier. Come October, there will be some difficult decisions that need to be made.

The attacker always has weaker resolve than the defender. How many Russians do you think will have to die before people get upset enough to stop the war? The longer they are there, the more severe the economic consequences too. It's in Russia's best interest to end this war as quickly as possible given that they failed their initial objectives.

i agree that the ukrainians have stronger resolve, but i dont believe the russians (i.e. putin) have lost their resolve. i dont think putin cares how many russians die. russia is a dictatorship, he does not care about publin opinion but publin opinion as far as i am aware, is currently behind him. i dont believe russia has failed their initial objections but i do agree that it is in russia's best interests to end the war.
