This is an existential conflict for Ukraine and Russia. They will throw everything they’ve got to win this.
At the same time - this is “one of those wars” for your everyday Frenchman or German so far. Doesn’t really affect your daily life, coffee is still hot, food is still stocked in the supermarkets, easyjet flights to Mallorca full. Kinda in the news. Support the good guys. Putin bad don’t ask why. Hence we see the support for this proxy war is waning as people get tired of caring.
Unless powers that be escalate this by putting troops on the ground, this will end up a meatgrinder of historical proportions. Any sane person should strive to figure out a way to resolve this peacefully.
Nope, we're well aware that our economy is tanking hard due to the US leading another proxy war, this time around with Russia at our doorsteps. Us and China in particular are very much interested in peace. We don't even care who "wins".
The only country making a profit in this war by accident is India. The US is at a net loss (military industrial complex with huge + but the rest, reputation and geopolitics = a total loss). Furthermore, the US cannot afford a "loss" at the moment. It'll lose its superpower claim.
