Its amazing how indoctrinated some people in those areas are. They see literal third world country level violence and corruption but they never once consider that its because they are voting exclusively Democrat.

The only way to keep politics clean is to have a large proportion of independent voters it seems.

The white fragility is so bad that you want the Fifteenth Amendment erased lol. There's a significantly higher likelihood of mandatory voting being ratified than any of your racist self-serving garbage.

Oregon politics is simple, and virtually identical to what you'd find in a state like Illinois. The majority of counties vote Republican, as Republicans offer to tax less, and use a greater share of the taxed monies to improve highways that service those rural counties. High density areas (portland, salem, Eugene, ashland/medford, corvallis) vote Democrat, as democrats promise to focus their attention on providing greater services to the cities, as well as providing higher levels of social services, low income housing, etc. etc.

Democrats win in cities by offering to give poor people free shit. Republicans win in the rest of the state by offering to stop taxing the rest of the state blind to give all their shit to cities for free. Meanwhile, even the high end of the "free shit to the poor" spectrum still exists on bare subsistence level, yet government employees see high annual pay raises, salaries for life, lifelong pensions, and other such corrupt garbage. At this point, Oregon couldn't get out of deficit spending even if it wanted to, due strictly to the need to continue funding pensions and lifelong salary contracts that no longer even exist as options to the current generation. It's still shitty boomer economics destroying the state.

Still tend to think the involuntary manslaughter charge can stick. Continuing restraint after unconsciousness in a maximum restraint manner is where they can nail him.

But I also tend to think both the murder 2 and murder 3 charges were a joke meant to appease the rioters. The Autopsy showed no injury to throat or lungs that were in line with the "asphixiation/crompression" claims, but DID show fatal levels of Fentanyl compounded by high doses of methamphetamines.

I am curious though, if he only gets Manslaughter 2, will they continue with the attempt to charge the other 3 officers with Manslaughter 2, or drop those charges, and nail Hall with the Murder 3 charge for selling Floyd the drugs that led to his death?

So is Minneapolis the new Detroit? How many people are going to get tired of the rioting and looting when this trial conclude?

Most of the midwest is already like Detroit. Detroit just stands out because it used to be the beacon of the auto revolution and boon of economy after WW2.

The rust belt is just assorted dead cities with some tech/college town/cities/middle class suburbs.

I can't believe that there are people who live their still. When I was in Palestine a couple years ago, the cities there looked better than the Rust Belt. I guess that's what happens when you have a bunch of white trash heroin addicts who couldn't make it past 7th grade.

Well it's a pretty terrible attempt. If the public hears a jury reads the words 'not guilty' to those charges, the country will instantly implode as if swallowed by a black hole.
