Seek his word? He came to fulfill prophesy, he did that.
Christian means to be like Christ. Ya gotta do the things he did, not inebriate yourself with a couple quotes about honoring parents and paying taxes.
"To get into heaven give up all you have and follow me."
He didn't say mull over a couple agreeable things I've told you.
How to be a Christian 101
Sincerely, A Satanist.

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

You added in the word 'all' in your own vocabulary. Jesus did not say to sell 'all' your possessions.

pos·ses·sion
pəˈzeSHən/
noun
1.
the state of having, owning, or controlling something.
"are you in possession of any items over $500 in value?"
synonyms: ownership, control, hands, keeping, care, custody, charge, hold, title, guardianship More
2.
an item of property; something belonging to one.
"I was alone with no money or possessions"
synonyms: belongings, things, property, (worldly) goods, (personal) effects, assets, chattels, movables, valuables;

So what possessions was Jesus talking about then?
If I told you hey lets sell off our cows and move to selling horses. That should imply that you sell all your cows to only sell horses.

Pretty soon hes just going to revert back saying we should only believe Jesus existed then do whatever you want and you're good.

Up next:
"Jesus said we should do it, then I said you should do it, therefore I'm a good little Christian boy & you can be too."

The thing is that Jesus wasn't just talking directly to the reader with that quote in the least, he was very specifically talking to a rich man. And even then, he was saying that was what to do to be 'perfect,' not to receive eternal life. Right before that, in fact, he specifically says "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments," like, four verses earlier.

He then bangs on about how it's tricky to be rich and remain faithful and that it's probably better to give up stuff in God's name than let it keep you from being a decent human being.

Seriously, just read the chapter. It's like a 2 minute read, tops. That's my advice any time you're tempted to quote the bible - just read the full chapter and think about it for at least five minutes before you decide you've got a good argument. :(

If you're here on the internet eating potato chips and being fat and happy, you're already in the top 1% of the world as far as wealth goes.

somebody actually posted something good ... too bad is for people who aren't religious for God, but they are religious for reasons like: afraid of going to hell, afraid of death, being cool, being trendy, trolling
