What breaks my heart is.
1. Draconian Covid law which is happening in Shanghai now ( But I know why they are doing this if you wish I can elaborate )
2. Arrogance from the Noveauv Riche in China who has " conenctions" to the government.
3. Freedom of information from common folks to the Central Government in Beijing ( This is slowly changing )
4. Jailing / Punishment of individuals who provide factual information to the government.
5. Corruption ( But this have been tackled quite well so far )
6. Trying to " encourage " or slowly trying to get rid of local dialects. ( But they have not been successful so far and are slowly phasing it out ).
I am not sure if the above is considered " Human Rights ".
We can't change the fact on Organ Harvesting, it is over , past and dealt with.
We cannot change Xinjiang, most have been released but there are still a sizable number.
And last but not least I am not the best person to criticize the Chinese government because my government is similar, minus the corruption and organ harvesting of course.
For Shanghai i discussed with a chinese who confirmed the phenomena was structural: mostly coming from a crushing hierarchy so no one would take the risk of
- Taking initiatives or report problems
- Doing everything to cover themselves
- Trying to keep their priviledges at any cost
And this even if people are rotting in terrible conditions.
The point above point out that the lack of freedom is a threat to performance, even creativity.
So what is worrying you is lack of performance coupled with nepotism, and a big touch of acculturation because of ccp uniformization ? The last one may be a problem for Russia, I am not sure they had a major cultural gain or evolution in the last 100 years.
One system may allow evolution to another. Thats an important advantage but also a weakness.
