what's the likelihood that children who became paralyzed from the polio vaccine, a dead polio cell, would have also gotten paralyzed from polio?

polio is almost eradicated thanks to the vaccine and after a quick look at wiki you will see that cases from the vaccine are very rare and happened in 3rd world sinkholes with shitty hygiene

Similar to current vaccines that were pushed in order to avoid picking up the virus, but you still do.

that's an unfair comparison. people got polio in rare events from a vaccine that wasnt supposed to give u polio. but the vaccine was designed to make u 100% resistant to polio, which worked.

covid vaccines arent designed to make u 100% resistant to covid. and never were. but in the same way can cause you to have nasty side effects of covid, that you would have gotten anyway if/when you got covid. which at this point on a 5 year scale seems to be nearly a 100% likelihood we all will get it.

the cases are similar, but had we in polio's day not recommended children get the polio vaccine at all because of a minute chance those kids would get a side effect then nearly all of them would have gotten polio and many more would have been crippled, paralyzed, etc.

majority of people I know got vaccinated cos it was told that vaccines will stop this madness, keep them safe from covid, and bring things back to normal.
minority of people I know that got vaccinated, is cos they wanna travel and don't genuinely give 2 fks about covid.

vaccines for sure wont keep you 100% safe, and idk about usa/canada, but in EU they told us earlier this year that they will keep you safe from covid, how that's the only way to stop wearing masks, and prevent people from spreading covid.

if something is 95%+ effective at stopping the spread of a disease, and 95%+ people have the vaccine, then it will be nearly 100% effective at stopping the spread. never truly 100%, but near 100%. this is herd immunity. but if 1 herd has 80% immune, another has 40% immune, another has 65% immune, etc. and these herds interact, then you're no where near 100%.

frankly im not sure why people have such a hard time applying herd immunity to the concept of vaccines that aren't 100% on an individual level. there are plenty of infographics illustrating it in real time.

you do have a point there, the general public was definitely deceived into thinking that covid vaccines would provide the same effect we saw with polio or smallpox

and i think thats a main reason for the extreme vax karens out there, somehow the reality still has not reached them

its mostly the fault of politicians pushing this agenda, but all they did was moving the goalposts
