A conservative Florida radio host who dubbed himself "Mr. Anti-Vax" and criticized the COVID-19 vaccine died of the coronavirus on Saturday.

In a statement posted to Twitter, radio station News Daytona Beach WNDB confirmed Marc Bernier's death, writing that he "informed and entertained listeners on WNDB for over 30 years."

It continued, "We kindly ask that privacy is given to Marc’s family during this time of grief."




Bernier, 65, succumbed to the disease three weeks after becoming infected, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, who appeared several times on Bernier's show, referred to the news as a "death in the family."

"I'm numb," he said, noting that while he and Bernier didn't always agree, they remained friends over the years, according to the News-Journal.

Bernier's death comes months after he vowed on the air that he would never get the coronavirus vaccine.


"Are you kidding me? Mr. Anti-Vax? Jeepers," he responded when asked in December if he would consider getting the jab, according to News-Journal.

Florida has become the epicenter of COVID-19 in the U.S. in recent months, with doctors in the state urging people to get vaccinated.

"It's the worst it's ever been right now," neurologist Robin Kass said last week. "And I just think that nobody realizes that."

In Israel, the number of hospitalized covid patients has been going down for a whole week now:

Cases keep going up steeply, yet the pressure on the hospitals abates. This strongly suggests that the booster vaccinations are doing their job.

The cases however as well as hospitalisations started once vaccines hit the 65% mark and over. Idk what its on now but i imagine it should be in 80-85% mark.

Cases and deaths had went down and stayed down for months in Israel before Delta got them into trouble again. Keep in mind that Israel were the trailblazers when it comes to the vaccines, they had already reached 50% of the population vaccinated by late February and had wrapped up their campaign by mid April.

My theory for why Israel saw such an unexpected surge in hospitalizations and deaths in August has been that the waning vaccine protection for their elderly coincided with the arrival of a new, more virulent variant. Simply put, they were unlucky with the timing, and since they were the first country to vaccinate a large share of its eligible population, no know could have known exactly when the natural decline of vaccine effectiveness would set in, so they couldn't be prepared for this development.

In the grand scheme of things, this is excellent news for Israel, but also the rest of the world. It means that timely booster vaccinations for the elderly should get us through this winter, the worries arising from the declining covid situation in Israel in late July/early August seem to have come from an unlucky timing rather than a systemic failure of the vaccines to protect against hospitalization or death.
