So "quid pro quo" is dead
Extortion is dead
Now it's bribery?
Good job Ratcliffe
They never died.
Extortion, Bribery, and Quid pro Quo are essentially synonymous.
It isn't as simply as the black and white 'I Bribed, Extorted, Quid Pro Quo'd X with X for X'
In Fact, if the President or any of his caucus flat out said the above, that wouldn't be the end anyway. The hearings would continue and Republicans would just come up with propaganda to soak up.
One must notice that these buzz words are very fickle things. They are words the media can use to express to the people watching, and for the same reasoning the Parties use this common language for the people, dumbing it down, so's to speak.
In reality it comes down to the interpretation of the law and what is written in the constitution. - A lot of the reflection and discussion around this is, in particular the Repub propaganda, dumbed down so common folk like us can understand.
-On the same note it is easier to convince a dumbass common folk idiot who 'doesnt really follow all the noise, but are die hard Republicans/Democrats and know they didn't do anything wrong' thinks like that. So to ensure that people who dont dedicate the time to fully understand this proceeding, the word Bribery is in the constitution, so the same word bribery was used by Dems. Simply for ignorance to understand, nothing else.
Regardless of the buzz word we choose to use to desribe the highly illegal shit the president did, it was done.
