Are you really that elementary of mind that you base your reasoning on an obscure internet poll?

not only is rcp everything but 'obscure', you clearly were not able to identify my point at all, which was that at least the numbers we have so far (as unreliable, early, and subject to change they might be) don't support the 'trump beats her easily' narrative.

i elaborated on my reasoning in the next post about her political record and that trump literally has just one thing to attack her on her. but i have a feeling that you aren't actually interested in making a point or honestly learning about mine here, or am i mistaken?

I'll just make this prediction because that's all we can do

If warren wins the nom (very unlikely) Trumps defeats her and Warren does worse than clinton in popular and possibly the college

Identity politics does work politically but old white woman that released a dna test showing how white she is and steps in every single trap trump sets won't be able to win on it. She's not great on the stump for national politics, she stumbles too much

this is not a personal judgment of her politics only her public political persona which isn't strong enough to pull off an identity politics win

I believe she's always been weak nationally but that DNA test release is the howard dean scream of her political career

like i said, expecting the 'pocahontas' attack to be stronger than her political record says a lot about the american voter and politics in general. not saying you're definitely wrong or that it's totally unrealistic, but yeah, that's even more pessimistic than i am...
in terms of key policies, she's overwhelmingly on the side of what a majority of americans support though, but then again, so are almost all democrats.

Don't flatter yourself. Your lips might move but so does an anus when it expels and you're good at imitation.

Sanders' appeal to those on the far-left has more often than not been about his views on economics, and not his social/identity views. He's doesn't stand out as a candidate on identity issues.

Exactly, and that's why I dont see him clinching the nomination in the era of Trump, where Dems have doubled down on identity politics.

Besides, I already explained a couple of days ago (albeit in another thread) that the current Democratic coalition of minorities and college-educated white globalization beneficiaries is an unnatural alliance on economic issues, and that this coalition is mostly held together by their complementary social/cultural policy preferences. This is the very reason why they are increasingly focusing on identity politics instead of economic issues. In a certain sense, the rise of Trump has been the right's reaction to this shift in the face and priorities of the Democrats under Obama. Now, under a President Trump, they are accelerating the pace even more, and Bernie feels like a relic of the past. Nominating Bernie to be the Democratic standard bearer in 2020 would actually be a sharp change in direction for the party, and I dont see it happenining.

I, personally, believe that he would make one of the better presidents out of the Democratic primary field, so I dont specifically dislike Bernie... I just objectively consider him winning the nomination to be very unlikely. And rationally speaking, irrespective on one's stance on his policies, one has to admit that his age is a big issue.

Although I think Bernie is an interesting candidate, I too don't see him winning the nomination either and being the candidate that Democrats put forward. Increasingly, I feel like the pressure to elect/nominate someone who is younger and "fresh" is mounting. The only person from old-guard that I could see potentially going somewhere is Biden, but I think Biden is not on the radar of younger left-leaning voters as much as he is with older generations.

At this point I think Bernie does more harm than good; he detracts attention and votes from Democrats. He's kinda like that guy from the late 90s and early 00s whose name I can't remember. Would run for president every election and people blamed for helping the opposition lol.

Tbh, I think Biden is overrated by the current polls. At this stage of the primaries, name recognition trumps (pun intended) almost any other trait. And by virtue of having been the last Democratic Vice President, Biden has a higher name recognition than any other 2020 candidate.

So his current standing in the polls is not so much reflective of his strengths as a candidate, and rather a consequence of his starting advantage. I dont think he has was it takes to expand on this starting advantage over the course of the Democratic primary; I dont think someone like him is what the party base wants in the era of Trump. Biden would probably make for a decent president, and he would probably be one of the potential Democratic nominees with the best chances of taking down Trump, but I dont think the base would be too much into him.

In the end, they will settle for Harris or Beto.
