WASHINGTON (CN) — Three individuals who breached U.S. Capitol security in the Jan. 6 riot — one of them a Texas real estate broker who has publicly waffled between defending her choice to enter the Capitol and regretting it — pleaded guilty to a low-level misdemeanor charge of parading Thursday.

Jenna Ryan, 51, chartered a private plane from Dallas to Washington and meticulously documented her journey — including with a 21-minute live Facebook video where she didn't let the budding insurrection slow down her self-promotion.

“We are going to fucking go in here. Life or death, it doesn’t matter. Here we go,” Ryan told viewers as she was walked up the steps at the Capitol, according to an FBI affidavit. “Y’all know who to hire for your Realtor. Jenna Ryan for your Realtor.”

On Twitter the following day, Ryan said that storming the Capitol was one of the best days of her life and she later defended her decision in an interview with Fox4, saying that she “was doing her duty to her president.”

Shortly after, however, Ryan changed her tune.

In February, Ryan told The Washington Post in that she felt betrayed and abandoned by former President Donald Trump and his other supporters.

“I bought into a lie, and the lie is the lie, and it’s embarrassing. I regret everything,” she told The Post. “Not one patriot is standing up for me. I’m a complete villain. I was down there based on what my president said. ‘Stop the steal.’ Now I see that it was all over nothing. He was just having us down there for an ego boost. I was there for him.”

If her regret was genuine, it too proved short-lived. When told by a Twitter user in March that she was going to jail, Ryan denied blame.

“Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I’m not going to jail,” Ryan tweeted. “Sorry to rain on your hater parade. I did nothing wrong.”
Ryan has accepted a guilty plea for parading, demonstrating or picketing in the Capitol. She could face up to six months in jail, though prosecutors are not recommending prison time.

A Capitol riot defendant who was released from jail reportedly could end up going back after he spent two days watching MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's election conspiracy theories.

Prosecutors in a filing on Thursday said they want alleged Capitol rioter Douglas Jensen to be sent back to jail as a result of "egregious" violations of his release conditions, which barred him from accessing the Internet after he was released in July, BuzzFeed News reports. According to the filing, Jensen admitted that he "spent two days watching Mike Lindell's Cyber Symposium regarding the recount of the presidential election." Lindell has repeatedly pushed baseless conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was illegitimate.

Jensen allegedly "led a mob chasing Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman" during the Capitol riot and "joined rioters by climbing through a broken window to enter the Capitol while armed with a knife." According to BuzzFeed News, his lawyer has argued that after spending six months in jail, he recognized "that he bought into a pack of lies" and "feels deceived."
But prosecutors said that after violating his release conditions, he "has proven that not even six months in jail will deter him from returning to the conspiracy theories that led him to commit an assault against a federal officer on January 6, 2021," and that "contrary to what Jensen claimed at his bond hearing, he is still very much bought into QAnon's 'pack of lies.'"

I don't think this is a surprise to anyone who paid attention to what was happening. There was never any evidence of a coordinated plot to overthrow the government, and plenty of evidence against it.

But I wouldn't expect this to change any minds. The same people who fell for this flimsy narrative will fall for the next one to come along, and there won't be any self-reflection on what went wrong.

They should all sue the FBI for millions for using solitary confinement. Taliban prisoners were treated better.

They should punish bad behavior only if they are female or non-white because said people are inherently immoral - I hear you loud and clear. White fragility morphed Ashli into the white George Floyd.

U.S. Capitol Police have formally exonerated an officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6.

“USCP’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) determined the officer’s conduct was lawful and within Department policy, which says an officer may use deadly force only when the officer reasonably believes that action is in the defense of human life, including the officer’s own life, or in the defense of any person in immediate danger of serious physical injury,” Capitol Police said in a statement.

The officer, who remains unidentified, will not face disciplinary action.

Their actions “potentially saved Members and staff from serious injury and possible death from a large crowd of rioters who forced their way into the U.S. Capitol and to the House Chamber where Members and staff were steps away,” Capitol Police said in the release.

“If the doors were breached, the rioters would have immediate access to the House Chambers. The officer’s actions were consistent with the officer’s training and USCP policies and procedures,” the agency continued.

Babbitt was shot as she tried to enter the Speaker's gallery just off the House floor in the Capitol on Jan. 6. A group of people who had stormed the building had slammed through a window to the gallery, and Babbitt was climbing through that space.

The officer fired one shot, hitting Babbitt in the left shoulder.

Federal prosecutors announced in April that they would not be pursuing charges against the officer, saying in a statement that officials determined there was “insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution.”

“Specifically, the investigation revealed no evidence to establish that, at the time the officer fired a single shot at Ms. Babbitt, the officer did not reasonably believe that it was necessary to do so in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement at the time.

Babbitt has been viewed by some on the right as a martyr, including by former President Trump, who claimed in July that the officer who shot the 35-year-old had “no reason” to shoot her.

Monday's release from USCP notes the officer “and the officer’s family have been the subject of numerous credible and specific threats for actions that were taken as part of the job of all our officers: defending the Congress, Members, staff and the democratic process.”

She should have stuck to tending to her husband and nurturing babies instead of letting her emotions get the best of her.
