i think he was being sarcastic there, i was just helpfully teasing it out for some users that might have misunderstood him

^Skinned correct me if thats wrong

No they never made reparations. They engaged in extensive nation building stuff. Probably not to a pre-war standard of living.

Bitter experiences of reconstruction in the last two decades have made the international community hesitant to engage in robust reconstruction activities. Iraq’s reconstruction after the United States-led invasion in 2003 contributed significantly to this reluctance. Between 2003 and 2014, more than $220 billion were spent on rebuilding the country. Despite the huge amount of money spent and extensive projects and programs implemented, the international community and the Iraqi people view the effort critically. This perception makes the international community focus mainly on humanitarian relief and much less on engagement that requires medium- to long-term commitment.

From what I watch from Taiwanese News and Hong Kong News media.
The escalation and the continuation of the current Ukraine conflict have potentially open up two more hot spots.

The Taiwan China Hot spot , potential is there but less likely to happen.

The second Hot spot in Europe. This has huge potential and is looming very eerily.
Serbia and Kosovo.

Let me know your inputs if you have any.

I don't think anything will happen in Taiwan and China for at least the next few years. Serbia is interesting but I don't think that will spill over into a full on actual conflict. I think you will see conflicts crop up in other parts of the world, probably Africa and parts of Asia. Many in those places can't absorb the economic consequences of the botched Covid response and now this war. There's a fuck ton of people living on the edge. North Africa and the horn of Africa look most precarious right now, the latter especially.

There is a statue of Bill Clinton in Pristina because he liberated them.

George W Bush has a street there too.

Just like there will probably be monuments built to honor Russia in Donetsk/Luhansk. A monument in Kosovo doesn't change the fact that we bombed Serbia into the stone age and in many ways did the exact same things what Russia is doing now to Ukraine.

Living in Asia, the only conflict that is ongoing right now is in Burma between the military government, Auung San Suuki's Party and the Rohinya Muslims.
Some fist fight between China and India at the border.

Thats about it.

The only potential hot spot is China and Taiwan. Like I say , potential.

Aside from that, there's Afghanistan/Pakistan problems cropping up. There's Yemen. There's Iran vs Israel/Sunni Arabs that could be potentially be very big depending with what happens with the nuclear deal. Israel & Palestine, another potential hotspot. These are just a few off the top of my head in Asia.

My bad I am mostly referring to East Asia and South East Asia since this is the part of the world I reside in.
But you are absolutely right.

And since this Ukraine crisis started, USA are now considering taking off all of Venezuela's sanction and asking them for oil and gas.
This got to be the most mind numbing thing I have seen.
Maduro's government is not recognized by the United States and now they are going back to them and considering recognizing them.

And this was just 3 years back.

I'm not defending American war in Iraq.

With the benefit of retrospect, more awareness of the evidence at the time and the outcomes, do you approve of any of the major US interventions since 9/11 in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Yemen or Syria?
