it's funny how hacks like you act like if they can just find one or two favourable quotes, it somehow magically makes months of anti-mask, anti-vaccine, anti-science rhetoric and policies disappear.

That's the entire point: there were no "months of anti-vaccine" rhetoric by DeSantis, he has always been pro-vaccine and still is.

More specifically, the newspaper article that you're referring to (without actually linking the corresponding orlando sentinel piece from which you've taken this quote) reads as follows:

Quote
Of late, he’s talked about how vaccines weren’t as successful at preventing transmission as previously thought, though they were successful in preventing severe illness and hospitalization.

“The vaccines are helping to reduce severe outcomes, not protecting against transmission to the extent that we had hoped,” DeSantis said.

This statement and messaging by DeSantis is 100% in line with recent scientific findings. Public health authorities around the world, as well as the CDC itself, have been talking for almost a month that the vaccines are not as effective against transmission (anymore) as we previously thought and hoped they would be, but that they're still effective against hospitalization and death.

DeSantis is literally listening to the science here and correctly recapping the current CDC messaging. This clearly is not "downplaying" the effectiveness of the vaccines, it's sticking to the facts.

yes of course, and trump is "pro-vaccine" as well - he said so at one point. never mind the constant undermining of fauci and experts in general, pandering to anti-vaxxers, and pushing "alternatives" while focusing on the things that vaccines DON'T do. nah, that's just fine - i mean it's not like red states and florida in particular are currently being crippled by covid again...

keep white knighting for that corrupt POS desantis. keep pretending that you don't know exactly that riding the anti-science trump train towards a potential presidential candidacy, constantly pandering to anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers, and enriching himself along the way in a blatantly corrupt manner is exactly what's happening here. disgusting hack.

my argument is correct because its correct and i dont need no arguments

how dare you undermine heroes like fauci, who have just been wrong a few dozen times and talked completely illogical nonsense from the start

i write this after getting my 4th booster shot and wearing 3 masks in my own house

rEnT fReE!1! hurr durr

btw, learn to read - i don't disagree with the science at all, you anti-vaxx nutjob. science and facts tell you to get vaccinated - even if you aren't obese or old yet, and even if it doesn't fully protect you against catching the virus. are you really that daft?

Unable to control your emotions so you seek the assurance of anti vaxer retards who just 2 years ago were unemployed alcoholics.

You're talking out of your ass so much now that your narrative has crumbled, it's not even funny anymore.

DeSantis is not "focusing on the things that vaccines DON'T do", he's still constantly telling Floridians to get vaccinated.
And he's not pandering to the anti-vaxxers, in fact, his embrace of vaccines has soured him on some folks from that group. His pro-vaccine stance is actively jeopardizing his road to the presidential nomination:

You would have had a lot stronger argument if you had focused on his anti-mask pandering, but harping on about his vaccine stance is just stupid.

dude, YOU are the one who got bent out of shape over the "downplaying vaccine effectiveness" line in that twitter thread, because you needed some kind ofDEFLECTION FROM THE CORRUPT BEHAVIOUR OF DESANTIS, which is the main story here, lol.

everyone already knows that desantis' flippant covid approach and his pandering to the science-denying trumpian base has cost florida dearly already - their covid cases are exploding (hence his backpedaling and damage control efforts in the last couple of weeks). but again, the main story there was his CORRUPTION. it's almost like you successfully managed to talk yourself into a frenzy about semantic, and genuinely forgot about that part, lol. just hack things i guess...

maybe actually read the article you posted, which confirms what i'm saying: he is losing support NOW and being called a "sellout" by people that clearly got the (very much intended) impression that he was on their side - all the way until he simply couldn't hide the terrible effect of his pandering to anti-intellectual trumptards anymore (no matter how many data analysts he fired and intimidated, body bags and ICUs at capacity are harder to hide than some numbers), which lead to some of the quotes that you already pretended would make all his previous anti-science rhetoric disappear. thank you for proving my point, lol.

And I've already explained how negligible this corruption is in the grand scheme of things. And I've already blasted DeSantis for it anyway, in case you missed that. We're disagreeing on the extent, not the basic fact that the Regeneron entanglement is bad.
You recited activists who are blowing the thing vastly out of proportion and make up shit out of thin air to smear DeSantis on top of it ("he's downplaying the vaccine effectiveness"). You are the one who started this conversation by linking a gross, bad faith misrepresentation of the issue.

Lol, this proves nothing. DeSantis has demonstrably been promoting the vaccines in June, in May, it goes back to as early as January. If it takes these antivax rednecks that long to realize that their governor is not on their side on the vaccine issue, that's their fault, not DeSantis'.
