That doesn't even make sense, there's nobody else around but police. I'm just wondering what they actually did. The only two reasons I can think of to be willing to not only arrest them, but to arrest knowing their live on air would be failure to disperse or acting as agitators.

Should be fun finding out.

just wait, the story of the day will be how Trump called people burning buildings and looting "thugs" and how he "advocated shooting them" and how twitter deleted his tweet due to TOS.

we'll continue to see platform wide policies to only refer to these as protests and ignore property damage and looting.

i'll admit it was likely a dog whistle with the "looting starts shooting starts" tweet, but its not wrong either. national guard called in, shots fired reported all over the place, pawn shop owner shot a looter, rubber bullets being used, tear gas canisters shot all over the place, etc.

To me this news of arrested reporters is far more significant.

Aren't conservatives supposed to care about the constitution?

freedom of the press =/= freedom to report no matter what

i dont know the specifics, i dont even agree most likely with the arrest, but this happened during a time when cops were trading territory with protesters, taking rocks and bottles thrown at them, etc. idk if that area was some restricted zone, and i wouldnt dare say restricted zones aren't needed in cases like this. still shouldnt have been an arrest even in that scenario.

Trust me, finding out why a CNN crew was arrested is a concern.

Normally I'd agree, but in this case, everything was caught live on camera to a national audience. The situation in this place was totally under control and calm, no fights between police and protesters since there were no protesters around to begin with.
The reporters were calmly and without any aggression talking to the cops, and then out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, they get arrested.

If people had good reasons to believe that, then this situation would be a whole lot different.
