yeah I assumed the normal procedure was that they could be put on suspension until a grand jury can charge them, then their pay remains suspended until they're convicted and lose it (or get paid retroactively if found innocent). I thought that was how it worked, but yeah it really comes down to union contracts and localization.

Disturbing video, up there was Daniel Shavers video for getting killed by cops while begging for his life. The whole “comply and get into the vehicle” command while the guy was pressed on the ground confuses me.

I recently watched the new Netflix doc on the Amadou Diallo killing. I was really curious what defense the cops would have in that case. They basically had none but got off anyway.

The feeling that I have right now is very reminiscent of that. My instinct is to be very curious what kind of legal defense the cops are going to string together. However, based on the Diallo case, perhaps I should realize that it doesn't actually matter. They might not need to present any new information or a new perspective in order to be found not guilty.
