i just saw the video, the guy tried to keep his door closed and drive away while black from a white cop asking him to step out of the vehicle in a country where cops are trigger happy

what did he think would happen?

University of Cincinnati cop very far from his jurisdiction. He shouldn't have been there but he was hunting. He killed a guy in Mt Auburn very far from his area of authority. Shit him in the back.

some people need to realize that they're effectively second class citizens who aren't afforded the same rights as the rest of us depending on the scenario
if you get stopped by the cops while black and aren't shitting your pants at the prospect of the officer looking for any means to escalate the stop into a violent confrontation you're not going to live very long

Sounds like you're relying on prior acts for lack of a case to be made against him in the facts of this incident.
The video clearly showed the driver close his door on the officer and try to drive away while his arm is in the window. At that point his life was in danger, the officer could easily have been grievously wounded or killed
The case went to a jury of people like you and me, and they didn't declare him guilty

You don't have the right to drive away when a police officer pulls you over for a traffic stop. You are being detained.

Yes, slightly pinned to the wheel, but it could be pulled back if he had a free right arm to push against the car. He chose a more lethal response.
