Ukraine will apparently lift the exit ban on young men in the coming weeks. I wonder if we'll see a mass exodus.

For those who haven't seen this yet.

When they first reported the proposal a couple weeks ago, people immediately noted this only applies to people who were free to leave the country when the war began. If they are 20 now, they were 17 when the war started. Seems calculated to appease locals while minimizing effect.

Individuals aged 18 to 21 inclusive are permitted to cross the border. Upon reaching 22 years of age, departure is prohibited. In practice, nothing has changed.

And the cherry on top? This isn't a law- it's a Cabinet of Ministers decision that could be revoked anytime, like when 18–21 year-olds return to Ukraine.

Yeah, this seems like appeasement to keep the populace from revolt. I was already wondering why they would decrease their recruitment potential at a time of a recruitment crunch.

While I was writing this angry post, they handed down a sentence of 22 years, inclusive. Does "someone" read d2jsp or what? Trash the clown. Sic semper tyrannis.

/e I think it's clear now how quickly this can actually be resolved and how fast it would be done if there were a desire to send a group of Ukrainians returning from, say, Poland, straight into the hell of war. It makes my blood boil.
