Its a fact that many countries were allies with Hitler: Italy, Japan, Hungary, Slovakia.
Also Ukraine believed that they could ally with Hitler and gain independence.
Also nazists conquered nearly whole Europe: they showed some good combat skills, this is why others tried to copy their combat tactics.
This is how nazi symbols came to Ukraine, and were adopted by various groups of peoples.
It doesnt make them nazi.

So, if one tattoos swastikas on his body, regularly writes poems to Hitler, openly proclaims that he is fighting Semite-led untermenschen, orcs and Golden Horde biogarbage - what does that make him? A Buddhist?

That makes him a pilgrim to Volhynia, who, by a curious twist of fate, happens to enjoy spray-painting swastikas on monuments.

Ukrainians commonly refer to Russian invaders as **"Orcs"** as a form of **derogatory nickname** rooted in both **popular culture and wartime propaganda**. Here's why:

---

### 1. **Pop Culture Reference:**

* The term **"Orc"** comes from **J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth** fantasy universe (e.g., *The Lord of the Rings*).
* In those stories, Orcs are brutish, violent, and destructive creatures that serve an evil power, lacking morality or empathy.
* By calling Russian troops "Orcs," Ukrainians are casting them as **mindless, destructive invaders** under the control of a dark authoritarian power (i.e., the Kremlin/Putin).

---

### 2. **Dehumanization of the Enemy:**

* In warfare, it's common to use **dehumanizing language** to refer to the enemy — it helps to rally support and **boost morale** among one's own people.
* "Orcs" implies that the invading soldiers are not noble warriors, but rather **primitive, cruel aggressors**.

---

### 3. **Widely Recognized Symbol:**

* The Orc metaphor has international recognition — many people understand the implication immediately.
* This makes it an **effective meme or symbol** for use in propaganda, memes, online discourse, graffiti, and satire.

---

### 4. **Russian War Crimes and Brutality:**

* Reports of **looting, massacres (e.g., Bucha), and destruction of civilian infrastructure** have led Ukrainians to associate Russian forces with **barbarism** — much like Tolkien’s Orcs who lay waste to peaceful lands.
* The term reinforces the idea of the Russian military as an invading horde that causes **needless suffering** and **moral outrage**.

---

### 5. **Echo of Russian Dehumanization:**

* Ironically, Russia has historically used dehumanizing terms for its enemies (e.g., calling Ukrainians "Nazis").
* The Ukrainian use of "Orcs" is partly a **counter-narrative**, flipping the script.

---

### In Summary:

Calling Russian invaders "Orcs" is a symbolic and emotionally charged way for Ukrainians to express **contempt**, portray **moral clarity**, and rally internal and external support by drawing on universally understood imagery of **evil and destruction**.

Russia would probably consider their war in Ukraine a defensive war. I accept this is a difficult notion for some people to swallow, or rather, would not be able to swallow the notion. A bit like how Israel attacks all its neighbors to defend itself, if that makes the notion more palatable.
Also I am very confused. you say we cannot allow a nuclear power...thats where the argument falls apart - a nuclear power will do whatever it wants and "we" just have to suck it up. Take the US for example. The United states threatened the following countries with nuclear bombs:

I can recognize the notion that many Russians might genuinely view this as a defensive war. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Nor does it imply that Russia's ruling class actually believes their own propaganda.

The analogy to Israel is apples to oranges. The groups in power in Israel's neighboring countries have repeatedly launched major attacks against Israel and aren't shy about the fact that they would commit genocide against Jews if they had the power to do so. Ukraine wasn't attacking Russian territory and didn't proudly display their intent to cleanse Russia of Russians "from the Wolga to the Urals" or something like that.

A nuclear power can't do whatever it wants with full impunity because the threshold for nuclear escalation is so high that it's not something the nuclear power can afford to do over small-time, petty disputes. NATO missiles and drones are hitting Russia regularly now and they still haven't nuked either NATO or Ukraine... To the extent that the US got away with their shit in the past, that was more due to their superior conventional military than due to their nukes. Russian nukes are the only reason why NATO troops aren't parading on Red Square already. American nukes are NOT the reason why Russian tanks aren't parading in Washington DC. ;)

It’s sad to watch the spectacle of artificial intelligence compensating for someone’s lack of their own. You could’ve just hammered this balalaika into Deekseep, Grut, or ShitGPT yourself. Or do you actually have an opinion of your own?

With victories like this who needs losses :) , wonder if Kremlin once again decides to move all their crippled vets without legs/arms to special prison camps just like they did with their ww2 vets so they wouldn't beg on the streets and ruin propaganda photos..
