It's a good thing that war heroes are rewarded with money.
It would be a shame that Ukrainian heroes risk their lives to save other Ukrainians and their fatherland, yet when they come back they are poorer than the ones who didnt work for army.

The point is not about paying those well who return alive, it's about 50+% of those who respond to such an ad not coming home alive to begin with.
Also, the effeminate guy in this ad looks like a caricature. It's glaringly obvious that this dude is some male model or actor working for an advertisement agency, rather than an actual soldier.

Realistically, this is probably a similar situation to recruitment efforts in the US in ca. 2006 in that even the most uneducated, braindead morons are no longer stupid enough to enroll voluntarily.

Ukrainian social media taking a victory lap after HIMARS was used to take out a convoy of journalists and cameramen. Don't have any reason to doubt it if UA sources are celebrating it, and Russia news confirm it

at least 3 war correspondents killed, for Zvezda and Izvestia

These stats that half wont come home are very much overly pesimistic imo.
First of all this is just one year contract, you will train, you will become a real man, not a boy. And you get lifetime benefits like cheap mortgage.
Second of all Ukraine aint stupid, they arent gonna get their youth killed, so these people wont be sent to risky locations.
As sad and cruel as it is, for Ukraine its better to risk life of 50 year old guy, rather than a 20 years old guy.
Young people are needed to make families, raise children, to secure nation future.

The war was going for 3 full years, and the final result is unclear.
It would be best for everybody if Russia just give up their further conquests. But its not really KGB nature to be nice guys. And KGB runs Russia, now its Putin, in future somebody younger but similar.
Unfortunately USA have gotten more friendly with Russia, which puts Ukraine and whole Europe at huge risk if they really become friends with Russia.
Because the Europe is not united enough to defend effectively on our own, we are 40 relatively small countries, that care only for themselves, and it sucks.
See? your country is not even in our antiRussia defensive block (NATO). But I dont blame you or your nation, all european countries think only of themselves and are unable to work together for a greater goal :(

I believe there was a guy that sought to unite the various nations of Europe under a single unified polity

pretty sure some of the people of eastern ukraine that were bombed for 8 years by their fellow countrymen 2014-2022 dont fall into the "it would be best for everybody" category. I must admit im glad the US is not steamrolling towards WW3 under Trump. What I dont understand is how is it that over 2 decades Russia has managed to resolve 6994 border disputes along its eastern borders, instead of invading those countries. I thought Russia wanted the USSR back. im confused what is it about europe that has Russia hankering for supposed imperial aspirations? surely its not Nato enlargement, that cant be it, its not as if Russia said this was the problem for the last 20 years......so confusing.
