Blacks and hispanics are strongly D-leaning demographics, and as a whole, their full vaccination rate is at around 50%. Even if we assume the non-vaccinated blacks and latinos to fall disproportionately on the Republican- or independent-leaning persons among them, the rate among Dem-leaning blacks and latinos still cannot be much higher than 60, perhaps 65%. And since these ethnicities made up over 40% of Biden's coalition, that's incompatible with the claim that 95% of all Democrats have gotten at least the first jab - for this to add up, we would need close to 100% of white Democrats to have gotten their first jab, and 87+% of black/hispanic Dems. So the first/second dose gap among black/hispanic Democrats would need to be in excess of 20%, which, given the 3-6 weeks between the shots and the speed of America's vaccination campaign in recent months, is impossible.


At the end of the day, I'm pretty sure that it's this "95% of Dems have gotten their first shot"-number which is wrong. Heck, even if we looked exclusively at the white liberal Karen demographic, I doubt that we'd get to 95%.

Genuine question: if Google, Facebook and co. can mandate vaccines, why can't other businesses mandate masks? What's the difference?

I imagine a business can dictate terms of employment which includes requiring vaccinations, masks, etc. I think the issue that you're referring to is how much control a business has over it's customers. Given that we have no shirt, no shoes, no service policies, I have to imagine a no mask policy is fine.
