I cannot stress enough how alienated I have become from the modern left-wing of politics by their embrace of actual fucking nazi war criminals. I've been on PARD advocating for universal healthcare, civil liberties, ending the surveillance state, ending the bush-era interventionalism, etc but somehow Donald Trump became the champion by default of people who don't like throwing in their lots with murderous nazis

Are you saying that Luigi has more in common with Hanul than the CEO he offed, or the suspect?

what I dont understand is how they latch on to a story like this when it is not a convenient story at all.

A recurring difficulty with PARD discussions is I can't really link sources on the most inflammatory topics because either the content itself is graphic or it links to graphic content, and we're stuck discussing it because its happening in the public eye and has consequences
There's all kinds of footage from the Ukraine war we can't post here, so I try to just chime in when we see war crimes. I can tell you there's a video of Demyan Ganul first threatening a guy at a gym and another of the gym owner handcuffed to a tree, stripped and beaten and forced to recite something that translates to "I'm a f*****t, I was just raped in the ass, I will serve in the war" before being shipped off. And considering most of what we don't post about the Ukraine war like gore, war crimes, mass graves, etc its actually pretty tame to just have a male rape victim being beaten bloody.

But even other topics. Yesterday we had the case where a city council in WA appointed a transgender activist before learning of their social media presence, where the guy posted pedophile screeds, naked selfies and essays about how he wanted to kidnap, rape and impregnate underage girls. Stuff I cannot link. That council member withdrew as the council was going to hold a vote to remove him one day after appointing him. And at the same time activists in Lynnwood are busy vandalizing tesla dealerships with swastikas, which kind of loops right back to the left wing's love-hate relationship with Nazis

from my own little peeking the ukrainian guy was a POS that was repeatedly caught being bold, but no evidence of physical violence unto others. not involved in rounding up ppl for the war.

Anyways, I don't understand how the average Ukrainian can sustain when the government is preying on their community like this. There was a recent long form publication by DW on the war and dead soldiers. The graveyards were huge. More than one generation just sent to the killing fields unwillingly.

Every source I've seen says he was acting as one of the 'recruiters' for the past few years. Not sure if he was explicitly on a payroll like TCC or acting as a mercenary recruiter or just it as a way to threaten and coerce others, but he definitely made news in June for that trainer incident since he himself filmed it. There are other videos of him abducting men and putting them in vans (and making sure his very recognizable face is on camera). Its hard to follow the breaking details in just the past few hours especially given the opportunities for disinformation/obfuscation, but it sure seems the assassin was the father one of one of the people Ganul abducted and was out for personal revenge. But that's recent enough it might not be real, though its sure a good theory otherwise

He was apparently infamous enough in odessa that ukrainian language telegram for odessa is actually celebrating his death, and even when he was shot, some unrelated passerbys actually took thumbs-up selfies with his body
like I said the list of suspects could have been "everyone in a 1000 mile radius" if the guy hadn't turned himself in immediately
