If assassinating Putin was that easy and certain to change Russia's direction it would have happened years ago.

Who said it was easy? My point is that nuclear war is such an extreme escalation that the order wouldn't be followed and the leader would be removed from power. Nuclear war is an empty threat and we'll be in a state of total war before that happens. There's no reason to freak out about step 45 when we haven't even gotten to step 2 yet.

Noone is put in front of the button to launch nukes if they aren't willing to push it under orders to push it.

I'd agree that we aren't at the point of nukes yet, but we are closer than any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis. I don't consider it irrational or unwarranted to be concerned at the possibility.

I disagree, if only you knew how many times the United States has accidently dropped nuclear weapons on itself. I believe there is still a missing nuclear weapon in a swamp or something in North Carolina.

Even IF the Russians decided to strike first, they are going to go after our military facilities first instead of population centers. They'll hit the Pentagon, NORAD HQ, critical military communication infrastructure, nuclear submarine bases, our nuclear silos, etc. Do you really think Russia is capable of performing something so precise without us knowing that SOMETHING is up given how well they've performed in Ukraine? The Russian military really isn't that irrational and we have a history of close communication with both Russian diplomats AND military in order to prevent such a disaster.

I'm aware that both the US and Russia have.. 'misplaced' some nuclear weapons. Russia more than the US but yes both have lost track of some. I'm not sure what that has to do with what I said.

If it happens it happens, no use in worrying about it.

I feel confidenct that if the US actually detonated a nuke over the US that it would be aware of the fact that it was a mistake before blaming another nation. Maybe not the media but the military certainly.

I'm less confident Russia could claim the same due to the results of the breakup of the USSR, but am still fairly confident they'd figure it out before taking action.

Though maybe I'm just being optimistic.

How many war crimes will Putin orchestrate tonight?

He is a criminal.

Sirens going off in cities around Ukraine, its eerie watching this live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSaeDNio5Qk

Ukrainians are putting their dead all over social media. People are really seeing what is happening and it isn't through the news, media, etc, it is through the voices of the Ukrainians.

To denazify Ukraine, Putin is trying to overthrow the democratically elected jewish president and he bombed a holocaust memorial. And some JSPers are buying his shit. Some people sure are fucking stupid.
