I still remember, 6years old in a church camp. The group leader pulling me aside privately and asking me to accept jesus so that he could always be with me.

Creepy as f**k and never returned to church after I told my mom about my horrible experience.
Thank goodness for that, because It enabled us to take an outside view of how twisted religion is.

TLDR: No.

...sounds fabricated .

How do you know?

When I was 10 or 11, I had a youth leader at a new Presbyterian church I went to meet with me privately in an equipment closest next to our gym and asked me to accept Jesus Christ as my savior. It was super creepy and a turn off for me, too.

The Group/Youth leader should not have done that. You have to come to make that decision on your own terms with help from God.

Your accepting of Jesus is between you and him.

Let me guess, a more positive experience with the Church would not sound fabricated, huh?

seems you were a lucky one, not like:

wonder how many posters on this forum have gone (or are going) through similar experiences

Institutions and the foundational "christianity" that sums up the majority is not in the bible, they teach false doctrines and often act like cults - even the larger groups.

To be christian is to be a disciple (an apprentice) of Christ, to want to be like him do what he has taught and to serve his will.
I wouldn't recommend taking the adherent advice of most who claim to be christians if you have a feeling to want to be a better person, certainly everyone can teach you something of value, but leave it at that, they aren't superior to you.

Once you meet true disciples, you realize that the cultists have given them a bad name.
