Trump has always been overtly transactional. Which has often times steered him toward more rational positions than those of the "Washington consensus". But yeah, this proves that his "Zelensky is a dictator"-talking point was cynical bullshit and that Trump simply doesn't want to give Zelensky a seat at the negotiating table, so that he doesn't get in the way when Trump cuts a deal with Putin.
Trump is a realist, understands that this cannot be won by Ukraine and that the US is wasting hundreds of billions.
Trump doesn't like a losing hand and is way too rational. Not emotionally involved like the previous administration and their supporters.
Trump's campaign was all about ending this war and now he delivers. Like he stated, the Biden administration / EU / Zelensky had three years to sort this out and didn't even start negotiations. Massive fail
