but cops doing their job to get evidence for a murder investigation that is likely pending?

Imagine the exact same situation had happened except that the killers weren't cops. Then cops had arrived on the scene and interviewed bystanders to figure out what happened. In that case, the killers would have been arrested immediately.

Minneapolis isn't Detroit. and reacting to no charge in 3 days with lighting the city on fire gets a "what should they do then" from you? lol.

if no charges were announced, ok. if he was acquitted, ok. if he got an award for the murder, yes, then please burn shit. but cops doing their job to get evidence for a murder investigation that is likely pending?

maybe they should just go with twitter's response "the video is enough for 1st degree homicide", said a bunch of idiots who haven't even taken intro to law.

maybe the city is working to cover this up, maybe theyre working on justice. but 3 days isn't enough time to get that signal, and the looters don't care anyways. they just want TVs. bad apples spoiling the bunch. they should have smashed a few cop cars and headed home. or sit in businesses rather than burning them.

"peaceful protests never get anything done". people just forgot MLK was a person I guess, maybe he really does need a month instead of a day and a few streets in poor areas. even X regretted his tactics by the end. no one learns tho.

That's really the tragedy here. I've seen enough pictures of the protests to know that there was a ton of peaceful, justified, strong protest. I really liked the sign saying "this is why we kneel". That was a strong and effective statement.

But thanks to the looters, all we're talking about instead is the violent minority among the protesters.

What should they do then? Connect communities across the state and country, organize protests, get an unprecedented amount of peaceful people on the streets in coordinated fashion.

Instead, this eruption of violence reinforces the racist stereotype that large gatherings of black men inevitably end in violence and looting.

there are movements in many cities, Detroit for example, where urban gardening initiatives are trying to empower neighborhoods. creating jobs, fresh food, a sense of community, good role models for kids, etc. these types of programs will do 10x more in a generation than a slight uptick to school funding or banning cops from certain neighborhoods unless called there. there are a lot of things that can be done to help these neighborhoods. they just require a lot of work from not the govt, and that's blasphemy to a lot of people. who wants to save kitchen scraps and help weed for your veggies when u can instead vote to get 5$ more on your food stamp card per month.

imagine it wasn't a cop is the same as saying imagine if the guy pointed a gun at them. cops don't have the right to kill at will, but the do have the legal protection from being treated as civilians when on the job.

also the investigation process is designed to take place with strict steps that need to be taken to protect cops that rightfully kill people, which is the largest category of police killings. that number should of course be lower, and maybe we do need changes to the system to arrest cops instantly if certain criteria are met. but that's not the system now, its not what we have. and the system we have now is 10x better than it was even 20 years ago.

More violence and bitterness?
If this guy was an agent provocateur, there's gonna be hell to pay.
Still... even a guy with a match can only do a ton of damage if there's enough gasoline. The looters are still responsible for their own actions, even if the looting was incited by a plant. And in particular, they didnt have to continue the looting after sleeping it over for a night.
