It's not "to some extent", every adult in NK has to go to mandatory military service, and it lasts 10 years in the case of men and 5 in the case of women. A random peasant in NK has received more hours of training than the average soldier in most armies around the world.



It's not just a matter of loyalty to their leader, it's also a matter of loyalty to their country and wanting to protect their people. Koreans have a long history of suffering very painful invasions. They are constantly reminded of the atrocities the Japanese Empire committed there, as well as the hardships of the Korean War and the thousands of civilians that were raped and killed by american soldiers (especially the No Gun Ri massacre). If there's an invasion by foreign troops, even the ones that are most skeptic about the convenience of keeping the Kim regime will think "it turns out our leader was right after all" and become determined to defend the country. These guys are loyal, patriotic and nationalistic; it's a completely different culture and mentality that doesn't just come from communist brainwashing, but from tradition and a confucianist philosophy that is pretty much in engraved in their DNA. The social pressure to be a brave warrior for "the Motherland" will be huge as well (not to mention the official pressure by the regime), and there would surely be misinformation, lies and propaganda talking about american war crimes, bombing of civilians, etc that will fuel the army's resistance.

Having a high IQ doesn't make you immune to brainwashing. No matter how smart you are you can only form opinions based on the information available to you and the regime controls what information is available to the people.

If it was true that the people hated Kim there would already have been a coup. The people are the military in NK. Mandatory 10years of service for every man.

North Korea would also likely have lower IQ than South Korea by a significant margin

Excessive malnutrition and restricted access to education will do that. I just took him at his word that he meant north korea. But now I think of it - how could we even know the average IQ of a North Korean?

If you had been paying attention, you would know that IQ is overwhelmingly genetic, and NKs and SKs are racially uniform.

If North Koreans had regressed in IQ due to the Flynn effect, their IQ would drop to 95.

Russians under the same effect would have their IQs drop to 85.

Two completely different scenarios.

I know you're driving home the point, I just don't know why.


Certain people around here are prone to jump on propaganda wagons, and if you simply ask how / why and other basic questions, many will just fall apart.

Like anyone claiming to have specific statistical data from what is essentially a blackout region.

Where did this information come from, who provided it? when was it produced?, how did this information get out of NK?, what format was it originally in? etc.

Is there anything from a citable credible resource that can be confirmed by 3rd party sources?

Things like this help us sift through the internet to find the matter of fact truth.
