Ukraine knows that there are countries in Europe that would veto Ukraine membership in Nato. Therefore the West (the US and its allies) have been doing everything to enable this. Currently, the likes of Slovakia are saying a big categorical no ( they dont want ww3) and this is annoying the West. Expect Georgia style unrest to pop up over the next decade or so in Slovakia and elsewhere as the US installs more and more NGO's into eastern european countries in order to Ukraine/Georgia 2.0.
