I know it is but the narrative currently in this topic is "if its not a democracy its fair game" or in the real world "yes but they have human rights issues so they are fair game". that goes along with "but russia is not a country" (in this topic) as well as (also in this topic) "china is a dictatorship". aka the west can do w/e they want with X country as they dont have the same political structure as the west, and even if they did did, the west would still find an excuse to make them a baddy.

They will have a minute or two to question their government whether it was a good decision or not when nuclear war starts.

nato? no, there's no mandate, since finland is not a nato member (yet). to go back to your "boiling water" analogy though, finland should join while the water is already boiling over in ukraine. this russian "water" isn't infinite, they can't just magically summon another army "water" while most of their available troops "water" is occupied in an active war "boiling water incident".

thats a fair comment/analogy. (my personal view is its bad timing though).
