War crimes happen, certainly in this conflict and in all others. What's your point? Iraq is marrying 9 year olds, the CCP is sterilizing a million people in Xinjiang. Communist dictator Maduro is still ruling Venezuela with an economically illiterate fist. Should we invade Venezuela? China? Iraq?

"Fool me once, shame on you...", at what point do you lose trust in the national security apparatus that has overseen two straight decades of squandered American power?

Might as well say Trump has a blueprint to cull all the LGBT and black community in the USA because he won. Which is of course exaggerated.

Can you point me to their representation in politics?

What do you think about cases like these?

Do you think far right militarized nazis need to be formally elected to have unchecked sway over legislative, executive, and judicial branches of Ukranian government? Honest question.

In my opinion, instead of instigating far right coups to depose of democratically elected leaders, EU & US functionaries should have helped this fledgling Eastern European democracy strengthen its pillars of government/governance and improve its economy.

Strong and independent governmental institutions would have ensured fair representation of all interests of Ukranian citizens. Shoulda-woulda-coulda. Instead we have what we have, zieg-heiling Nazis with swastikas tatooed on their foreheads rolling into military command offices and accusing commander-in-chief and other functionaries of conspiring with the russkies.

Remember that video from 2019 when Zelensky had no idea what he was getting into and tried implementing Minsk accords? He met with Azov which was recorded and published online and Azov folks straight up told an elected president to go fuck himself (and so he did).

Oh well. Too late now I guess, it’s 2024 and the world has gone to shit.

Chief of NATO Military Committee complains he can’t bomb the shit out of russkies as they have these pesky MIRV nukes on submarines and mobile ICBMs. Or as they put it professionally:

Was this in your bingo card for 2024?

What in the absolute tarnation did I just read...
This article has to be the biggest amount of COPE that I have ever read. Rob Bauer is the type of boomer that can't comprehend why the US is currently losing to the Houthis and he probably thinks it's because NATO doesn't have enough diversity and inclusion.

Comparing Russian conventional arms to the Taliban? He should be fired on the spot for a baseless claim such as this. As if Russia doesn't possess the conventional means to turn Europe into a wasteland. As hard as it is for some to comprehend, Russia isn't waging a war of extermination, but with NATO involvement, that would change in a heartbeat. Good luck instituting a draft in the west, it would ignite a civil war in North America. If these Warhawks are so eager to get whacked by drones, then they can volunteer to fight, but they would much rather have someone else fight their battles.

The houthis don't have nukes; why can't we kick them out if its so easy?

I honestly don’t understand why this isn’t being picked up by propaganda / media.

This guy literally single-handedly threw out the whole “defensive alliance” talking point out into the bin. Somebody should take away his microphone before he does more damage.

And yes, he’s real and acting NATO Military Command chief from The Netherlands, not some retired washed up podcasts guest: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Bauer

Ukraine could have nuclear weapon in months – report
A government research center has claimed that the country has enough plutonium to build hundreds of crude warheads

While Ukraine cannot enrich Uranium – a process vital for building modern nuclear weapons, its nine operating nuclear reactors contain an estimated seven tons of plutonium, its authors claimed. This could be used to build bombs similar to the ‘Fat Man’ device dropped on Nagasaki by the US in 1945, they wrote.

While a Ukrainian ‘Fat Man’ would only be a tenth as powerful as the device that leveled Nagasaki, the amount of plutonium in the country’s reactors “is sufficient for hundreds of warheads with a tactical yield of several kilotons,” they argued.

“That would be enough to destroy an entire Russian airbase or concentrated military, industrial or logistics installations. The exact nuclear yield would be unpredictable because it would use different isotopes of plutonium,” author Aleksey Yizhak explained.

Domestic long range drone production: check
Domestic ballistic missle production: check
Domestic tactical nuke production: pending

It's a worthless article/opinion indeed, but I gotta disagre with the bolded part. The European NATO members alone have a larger standing military, vastly larger quantities of jets, guided missiles, air defense and surveillance systems than Russia, and they have more modern tech in general. Russia has already undergone a round of conscription and needs to go begging for more soldiers in places like North Korea - and they still haven't beaten Ukraine although they are far more serious about that conflict than Ukraine's Western partners.

As of today, there's no chance the Russians could push any further into Europe than the Baltics. So their ability to turn Europe into a wasteland with conventional means (i.e. no nukes) would have to come from a gigantic stockpile of long-range missiles which the NATO countries couldn't intercept in spite of very long travel times. I don't see that at all. Russia's deterrence of NATO imho hinges entirely on their nukes and nothing else.

Ukraine nuking a Russian airbase will allow Russia to legitimately retaliate with nukes without international condemnation. This might spell the end of Europe and probably humanity as whole.

We probably should impose sanctions on all countries supporting Ukraine in their ambition to acquire nukes. Didn’t US do that with Iran after overthrowing their democracy when they tried to acquire nukes?

As I look at this conflict, Ukraine has, repeatedly, from day 1, sought long range missiles.

The narrative is: That with long range missiles Ukraine can strike deep behind Russian lines. From this lens Moscow looks like a reasonable target to bomb/nuke noting all other targets are broadly inconsequential. The simplistic idea/logic that is being presented is: If we get long range missiles this will deter Russia.
The reality here is: That with long range missiles (and a devastating strike on Russia) Ukraine would force Russia to retaliate at a force well in excess of how they are currently operating this conflict. Ukraine believes that this will in turn create a Western response, forcing the West to become actively and directly involved in a wider war.

As many of you are aware, my own view is that the US triggered this conflict, wanted this conflict, supported this conflict and had goals which even today they continue to pursue - the destruction of Russia (with Ukraine being used as a weapon). The Biden Administration has refused all attempts by Russia to negotiate a peace and from various incidents in recent years we can see that US diplomatic skills are virtually non existent. This makes the situation very dangerous.

The US is divided on Donald Trump. half love him and half hate him. There are alot of western leaders that hate him. For myself, if he is able to prevent Ukraine from starting WW3, then on that point alone I will be forever grateful.

All this makes me pretty uneasy about the future. Rival world actors should be expected to see the US as a bipolar demon. When the Democrat Party (unless overhaul) is in charge, the world can expect the US to provoke and instigate conflict, and perpetuate it so long as it's profitable. When someone like Trump is in charge, world actors can start to trust that diplomacy actually exists in the US. But at this point, Putin can tell Trump - "I trust you. But you only have 4 years. Who takes over for you? Be it a Democrat, or one of your successors, how can the bipolar US demon be counted on enough that we can accept a peace deal enforced by the good word of the US-lead rules-based world order, when it has betrayed us explicitly?"

This is not entirely true. Trump wants to shift resources from EU to East Asia and the Pacific to provoke proxy wars.
This will take heat off the mid east and EU / Ukraine Region.

What the world is facing at the moment is a tense and untenable situation in Ukraine / Russia and an unstable mid east . Both theater have huge fossil fuel deposits and it is affecting livelihoods in certain areas.
If the US under Trump miscalculate and a full blown proxy war starts, the Chinese might drag the US into a direct hot war. That will pretty much be the end.

The Russians will also join in no doubt. And they will. If that happens. whoever that has a larger population will "win" not by invading each other countries but by seeing how many civilians you are able to stomach for their deaths.
The Chinese do not have a problem with Civilian Deaths ( 60 Million during Mao and Cultural Revolution).

Can the West stomach that kind of loss.
