I don’t see it this way. The most revealing fact is that the majority of Ukrainian men did not update their contact information for military recruitment offices by the July deadline, despite the relatively high fines and various complications in everyday life and work that they may now face.

We are talking not just about "hundreds of thousands", but about the majority of Ukrainian men on military duty. And many of those who updated their contact information had the right for exemption.

Egregious example of the gap between propaganda tormented by the likes of western MSM or Kiev School of Zeconomics (pun intended) and reality on the ground: far-right volunteer-bloggers hide from draft:

Code
Prominent Ukrainian far right figure Serhiy Sternenko has been put on the wanted list for draft dodging by the mobilisation authorities in his native Odessa.

A former Right Sector leader in Odessa, Sternenko stood accused of a murder but dodged prosecution after a loud campaign for his release. He later became the face of Prytula Foundation - a large scale operation crowdfunding Ukraine’s drone programme. It is also known to operate one of the most toxic troll networks here on this platform.

Sternenko confirmed reports in a Telegram post that a draft notice was sent to his place of registration in Odessa. He accused those behind it of trying to undermine the Ukrainian drone production and working for the Kremlin

how do you see it ? genuine, is it that the western propaganda machine has ukrainian sentiment entirely wrong?

Yes. It relies on English-speaking pro-western activist minority who have set up an elaborate foreign sponsored / HUR managed propaganda network. Try googling something Ukraine related in Russian. Your first 10 pages of sources are propaganda outlets spinning an Ukraine-leaning narrative. Keep in mind that speaking out against Ukranian official party line lands you in jail at the moment (or worse). Same is valid for Russia currently. Supporting Ukraine implicitly or explicitly lands you in trouble in Russia.

The only Ukranian voices able to tell the real picture are either abroad (Sharij, Arestovich et al) or in Russia or have no voice as they are afraid of the repercussions (remember that lady in Odessa who hoisted a Russian flag? What happened to her?). Everyone questioning Ukraine propaganda are quickly labeled as kremlin bots or putins bootlickers.

While nobody is denying here the severity of this war and heroism of ukranians fighting against all odds, the attitude is shifting rapidly on the ground, especially amongst those people that don’t speak English.

Don’t forget that even in supposedly “free” Europe - questioning official narrative that “Russia bad, don’t mind the swastikas they are fighting” - you risk losing your political / corporate career and being forever labeled as Putinversteher:
