Afaik ya. These numbers were before the war so the refugee status might have changed that. It seems that just under a mil went to poland and about 250k to Canada, although we have over 1.2million pending applications for permanent residence.

Russia will most likely reject Trump’s plan if it is just to freeze the conflict and will seek control over the government in UA, its military and defense industrial capabilities and its choice for security alliances, as well as Ru territorial gains.

Let’s see what Trumps plan for Ukraine is.

I watched several videos, from ukrainians interviewed after trumps election. the simple fact is that as a nation, they are not, culturally, of the persuasion to end the war, to stop fighting, they will fight, tooth and nail, to the last man. their will is unbroken and they are convinced that they will win., that they will kick russia out of eastern ukraine, out of crimea. I dont see what russia can do to break this spirit (short of total war), therefore it appears unlikely that trumps call for peace and ending the war will succeed. he will not be able to convince them that they have been fed lies for the last 1/4 century and that a rethink is required. even if the US stopped giving loans tomorrow, or sought a peace deal, the damage is too deep rooted by now. ukraine is inclined to keep fighting. the war will continue.

Why not? It effectively gives Russia what they want. The west of Ukraine is a white elephant, folding it into the EU means an additional welfare state that consumes more than it produces. Russia wants the DPR/LPR/Crimea with its naval base, farmlands, mining and gas resources and ethnic Russian population. Their only real concern about west Ukraine is how NATO has weaponized them against Russia. If Trump is going to offer up a deal where the conflict is frozen, Russia gets control of the separatist regions and west Ukraine becomes a neutral state with security guarantees and demilitarization, that's basically just giving Russia both 'everything it wants' and 'what it is already taking by force anyway'. And all it requires from the the US/UA is to simply stop fighting, stop pouring blood and treasure down the hole.

Its also basically the whole Chinese peace plan and Russia was more than willing to agree with Wang Yi and Xi Jinping as they pushed it. The only difference here is Trump would get to claim credit.
