You're missing my point. My posts are directly commenting about folks more upset about the destruction of property than the loss of human life.

Ya but like who? I can count on one hand the number of people who think this guys death wasn't tragic.

Now you're getting silly. The qualification in your argument was "can you name an example of effective peaceful protests in the past 10 years".

If we're not just looking at the last 10 years, then the 1963 March on Washington and large parts of the Civil Rights Movement are the prime example of a successful and peaceful protest.

You asked if we can point out a successful yet peaceful protest in the past 10 years. My counterquestion is can you name a successful violent protest in the past 10 years.
And like I said: you are the one defending the use of violence here, so it is you who must come up with a justification for this stance, not the ones arguing against violence. (Which clearly should be the default stance.)

Even recent examples specifically related to racist police brutality have been successful. It has led to efforts to reform the police training process, update their restrictions on the use of certain holds, has led to many officers being fired and some being found guilty of criminal charges.

Brave activists in Minneapolis are pushing back against the reopen-movement by shutting down non-essential businesses.

it's not surprising the usual suspects here, in the media, and in society as a whole, yet again cannot realize that blowing up buildings and killing/injuring people completely unrelated to the original crime is going to lead to further injustice and remove nearly all the focus away from the original crime. a horrible killing which nearly everyone has denounced as a total act of barbarism that needs to be punished

There are many people who afford the same amount of affect to the declaration that the sky is blue.

Their true outrage is about the property destruction and where you'll find most of their energy diverted to. Merely taking a moment to be like "Yeah, it's tragic dude" does not absolve them of this.

I really dont think that the outrage you're describing is about the property destruction itself - the outrage is aimed at the breakdown of public order and the apparent unwillingness or inability of the responsible authorities to restore order and safety.

Just property damage is a shamefully inadequate takeaway. Rocks are being thrown. Stabbings. Potential rapes.

Same as saying this is about target is shortsighted at best. 400 plus businesses. Families homes burned.

But sure some people aren't sad enough about a single death in the face of all of that carnage that lets be honest is just beginning.

There are many different ways in which people are outraged. I'm not going to disagree with the idea that some people are outraged by what you're describing. However, it is undoubtedly the case that many other people are outraged squarely by the property destruction.

So I read that Minneapolis/St Paul was losing restaurants at a rate of 1 closing down per day average in the past few weeks/months since Covid-19 really kicked into full shutdown mode
I wonder what that rate will be over the next week

Old Arnellia's is now on fire
The Gay 90's is even being attacked, jfc

People taking advantage of the chaos to do such things =/= utilization of property destruction as a form of protest.
