It didn't save this man's or countless others' lives. So I think it's reasonable for people affected to resort to any alternative to send an even louder message, even if it's not a better message. No, it's not a good thing that residences burn down, but it's not a good thing if this state of affairs continues indefinitely with people limiting themselves to expressions with a proven track record of failure.

This is fucking stupid. The left cried with outrage when people protested peacefully with firearms even though it was because of an actual issue. They weren't hurting anyone.

Now the left is destroying the country but it is OK because a crime happened? Make up your minds.

So let me get this straight...

You are saying this violent and horrible rioting is going to be more successful than what MLK did back in the day?

“…it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear?…It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity.” (Martin Luther King Jr, “The Other America,” 1968).

Can you provide examples where violent or destructive protesting has been effective?

The correct perspective to have is that it is the usage of violence which needs to be justified, not its absence.

Yes.

The left?

You've been lobotomized if you think ideological leftists are out hurting people right now.

Now you're getting silly. The qualification in your argument was "can you name an example of effective peaceful protests in the past 10 years".

If we're not just looking at the last 10 years, then the 1963 March on Washington and large parts of the Civil Rights Movement are the prime example of a successful and peaceful protest.

You asked if we can point out a successful yet peaceful protest in the past 10 years. My counterquestion is can you name a successful violent protest in the past 10 years.
And like I said: you are the one defending the use of violence here, so it is you who must come up with a justification for this stance, not the ones arguing against violence. (Which clearly should be the default stance.)

Fires can't kill people?

every unfortunate death that occurs as a result of these riots will be deemed as covid-19 related, unfortunately
