Ukranian military leadership is clearly not independent from ultranationalists within their ranks (who just dismissed a literal general and Zelensky looks like he takes personal orders from Biletsky every time they do a photopp together). Soviets tried to exterminate this ideology and partially succeeded until it was revived in the 1990s by the leftovers of Nazi descendants that migrated to eg Canada. Ultimately I believe you need to fight ideology with ideology or at least economic measures, not violence.
