Fun fact, flechettes are not banned, used by a.o. Israel against civilians in Gaza and one cannot distinguish between flechettes from Ukraine or Russia based on a photo of a 122m artillery shell as those are standard Soviet ammo. How convenient for propaganda.
Unlike cluster bombs they do not remain lingering on the ground waiting to explode and are no more harmful than a rusty nail, once carrier shell exploded.
