Well, Zelensky got rid of the opposition, abolished elections till the end if the war, shut down any tv station that criticized the government, forbid all negotians with Russia. Zalushny was popular enough to replace him. Zelensky got rid of him by firing and giving a minor role.
We all know Putin is a dictator and the elections in Russia are a fraud, but so is Zelensky by now. He talks as if he speaks for the Ukrainian population but his popularity is at the rock bittom. More like, he's keeping the Ukrainian popularion as hostages:

I'd say no agreement should be signed with him and if there is any it won't be worth the paper it was written on. Biden signing a 10-year "security" agreement with a nobody makes both look like clowns.

Russia doesn't need a piece of paper to withdraw its troops from the sovereign territory of Ukraine.
We all know it would instantly stop the conflict. After that there's a haf-Trillion repair bill lol.

Well, Putin is a dictator and autocrat but he's got the backing of his own criminal accomplices in inland and majour backing by the population. Zelensky on the other hand is a paper dictator. As soon as the western allies decide to let him fall, there's nothing he can do. If he wants to negotiate anything in the name of the Ukrainian people he should hold elections to get the mandate for that. You need the mandate of the people to make majour decisions about the country.
I'm discontent with Germany's politicians as well. It's clear as the day, they don't have the mandate anymore after the EU elections, yet they still reach for the paper straw to continue as it is

If Russia withdraws from their current positions - who would be the credible guarantor that no military bases like Rzeszow would be built on its borders? Better push out the borders now while they still can.
