Regarding your earlier statement, I am not quite sure what you mean when you say it’s clear to anyone in the West that we are the good guys. I have lived in the West or West-aligning countries around the globe overwhelming majority of my life. However, this does not mean that “the West” is always right, or are always the good guys. Some of our countries are sending bombs to the Middle East to blow up children for several decades now.

At the same time, under the umbrella of NATO, here in the EU we are enabling the US to encroach on two (!!!) other superpowers. While there are protests "not in our name" re : Palestine/Israel, equally there are those in the West, that are asking pointed questions as to why are we escalating the war with Russia and China. NATO operated and serviced F16 jets will be piloted by NATO trained Ukranians and sending glide bombs deep into Russia? We are well beyond the realms of normal good behavior. When “Good Guys” talk, they talk to resolve conflicts and they dont close off diplomatic talks on a hissy fit.

Good Guys and Bad Guys is all about perspective. For instance, Macron sees Putin as the Bad guy because he reneged on a promise between two men (invade/not invade). Russia sees France as the Bad guy because the France reneged on a promise not to expand Nato further. I'm sure that African and Maghreb countries would see Macron and his predecessors as the bad guys, for a variety of reasons.
