Russia's escalation amounts to more of the same. Indiscriminate shelling towns and cities, throwing more cannon fodder at Ukrainian lines.

Russia is winning a proxy war in Ukraine with conventional weapons. If the west becomes sore losers and tries to flip the table by bombing Moscow, Russia is going to respond in kind, and the jump from 'Russian missiles striking western cities' to 'nuclear obliteration' is measured in hours
